Warwick Farm Racing Tips - Wed Feb 13
We're back at Warwick Farm today after Saturday's meeting at the same venue - our Best Bet comes up in Race 6.
Track: Soft 6. Rail: Out 3m entire circuit.
Best Bet: Race 6 - ARCHADEMUS
Race 1: 3YO BM70 Handicap 1600m
FINAL AWARD (2) has to step out of maiden class for the first time after a dominant win on the Kensington track last time. Connections had advised that he was to be ridden further forward but after missing the kick, he was worse than mid-field on the fence before getting clear and powering home for a soft win.
SELES (4) has been very consistent, she placed at her first four this campaign, came out of a hot form race the race following that and then had no luck last time. She looks the obvious danger. HELGA (5) has had a five-week break, she will be up on the speed and has had a couple of trials since her last week to keep the fitness levels up. MONEGAL (6) bolted in to win her maiden at the Sapphire coast last start by more than 6 lengths, this is obviously harder and it did take her 8 runs to get the first win. Place only.
Race 2: 2YO Maiden Plate Set Weights 1200m
STILL SINGLE (14) has only been to the races once, she was unplaced but beaten only 2.4 lengths at Group level and ran on well from a mile back. This looks a lot easier, JMac goes on from the good draw and she should be able to settle closer.
Obviously a tough race as many of these that have raced can improve dramatically and those that are un-raced are unknown.
ZOURIANA (15) is also from the Waller yard, she was well beaten in a harder race on debut also but was ok through the line and will appreciate getting out to the 6 furlongs. FANCIFUL DREAM (9) was an easy trial winner at Newcastle in preparation for her debut here and DEEP CHILL (4) was good off a tough run placing at Group Three level last time and gets a few gear changes.
Race 3: BM70 Handicap 2400m
DUSK FALLS (1) was good in defeat on the heavy track last start, he was wide and well back early before making a long-sustained run mid-race. He hit he front too early at the 600m mark, stuck on well and was only beaten over the last 50m. In form Robbie Dolan on, he has versatility so will have to make some decisions early.
FLUIDITY (5) has been super winning her last two, both very easily. She looks a little risk here though stepping up to the 2400m and likely to have to sit off the fence. LATIN LIGHT (6) is a last start winner in an easier race, he will roll forward and be on the speed. If he finds the front, he will be hard to run down. FRONT VIEW (8) is very consistent but doesn’t win out of turn, it took him 15 runs to break the maiden but is drawn to get a soft run. He will get back so may just need a little luck getting off the inside when the runs come.
Race 4: BM70 Handicap 1000m
WITHERSPOON (5) is yet to win out of maiden grade but has been close when placing at her last three. She has great speed and will be up on the pace, handles the wet tracks also and being drawn wide is sure to be no disadvantage at this stage of the meeting.
GOD OF THUNDER (7) is resuming for the Hawkes team, he bolted in to win his maiden when last seen at the races after racing on the speed and has trialed well enough. REBEL MISS (1) is locally trained and has raced well here at the track previously, she will be looking for a spot up on the speed also. STEPHAN (3) rarely runs a bad race, he has only missed a place once in his nine career starts. He maps well and is a must in all exotics.
Race 5: Country BM80 Handicap 1300m
COMMON PURPOSE (3) resumed at Canterbury 3 weeks in a 70-grade race, he had the perfect run and to be fair only did just enough, but a win is a win. He goes well second-up and has a terrific overall record, if the fence is not off, he will go well. If it no good on the inside however I would be very happy to lay him.
OUR ROSEMAREE (8) is drawn horribly but she will drop out to last anyway. She had no luck and the ride was queried when resuming, look for her late is the track isn’t too wet. VALREE (9) is a winner previously second-up as she is today, she ran on hard to narrowly miss in an easier race resuming. SYD’S FOOTPRINTS (12) looks the leader, presuming they will stay well off the fence again and this will be his first go on a rain affected track.
Race 6: Provincial BM70 Handicap 1300m
ARCHEDEMUS (3) looks to be well above average. He won both starts last prep, the latest was on a heavy track but the way he put them away was impressive. He had to work to get outside the leader, put the foot down at the top of the straight and bolted in by almost 10 lengths! He has trialed brilliantly and looks ready to go. The track should suit him also.
If the money comes for him suggesting he looks well in the yard, he looks the best of the day. FRANKLY AWESOME (6) won her first two before going to a Group One and trying hard. Her trials have only been fair, prefer to see how she has come back. ALIFEROUS (9) was good from the back at Canterbury last time and JUVENTUS (5) was ok at that same track last start but has the bad draw.
Race 7: Mares BM70 Handicap 1100m
VEERLAN (2) was a good winner two starts back when running on from mid-field, she settled closer last time and eventually worked to the front before being run down. She has the inside gate so hopefully they will take a sit and they won’t get caught back on the inside.
It looks as though any of the top five saddlecloths could win. JESTER ANGEL (1) is in winning form after saluting at her last two, she has great tactical speed and the spot outside the leader looks hers. LIPS ‘N’ LASHES (5) has won two in a row since resuming, both in the country. This is harder but he is racing well and maps to sit on the leader’s backs. SOUL STAR (4) is an interesting runner that travels up the Hume. She failed at her only start on a rain affected track so maybe better to see how she handles it and the Sydney way of going. Play numbers 1-5 in the Quaddie.
