Flemington Racing Tips

Track: Good 4. Rail: Out 6m entire circuit.

Best Bet: Race 2 - SWACADELIC

=====

Race 1: Super VOBIS 2YO Handicap 1100m

PROPELLE (10) was a dominant maiden winner last start at Sale after working early to find the lead. Her debut run was huge when narrowly missing after blowing the start. If she steps away again she may be too speedy.

Dangers:

ANTHEMOESSA (9) is first-up since heading north for a tilt at the Magic Millions, she was big odds and never got into the race. Not sure where she is at, look for any money late indicating she is ready to go. RUBAN BLEU (7) is a first starter from the Hayes/Hayes/Dabernig yard, he is sure to be well educated. THE AUGUST (4) has had a month off since his impressive debut win, has trialed well since. Looks to have above average ability.

Race 2: Handicap 2500m

SWACADELIC (2) didn’t have much luck last start before charging home and narrowly missing. He has been consistent this prep, ran on well at the Bool to narrowly miss in the Cup also. Hard to hold out late.

Dangers:

LYCURGUS (6) has won two in a row after getting perfect rides/runs. HE doesn’t map as well here, if he can get to be the third pair back with cover he will take some beating. Happy to risk him if he starts at the top of the market though. SLY ROMANCE (7) has form through the top pick but featured in the steward’s report. HURSLEY (3) was well beaten by Boom Time last start but that horse is flying.

Race 3: 3YO Fillies BM78 Handicap 1400m

REMEMBER THE NAME (9) was in the wrong part of the track up the straight last time when resuming and is still yet to win out of maiden grade, but she looks to have plenty of ability. She wasn’t far away in Group 2 class before going to the paddock. Look for her late.

Dangers:

MINTHA (4) had been crying out to win her maiden before obliterating her rivals in an easy 10 length win last time. This is harder but she couldn’t have been more impressive. JESSAMIN (6) has speed and showed improvement last time after a poor fresh run. ISLAND DAZE (1) won her first two starts before a spell, improved last time to get close up the straight.

Race 4: BM90 Handicap 1800m

SILVERA (5) was beaten as favourite last start after having every chance, he may have just been a little flat second-up and should be fully fit now. His effort resuming was super and was a real eye-catcher.

Dangers:

SECOND BULLET (1) placed here last time, he looked to have every chance and will find this grade more suitable. LIZARD ISLAND (2) was beaten out of sight by Boom Time last start after over-racing badly in front. There is no Boom Time here, if he can settle better he can be on the speed for a long way. BALCAZAR (10) has been good at his last couple here at HQ, the first of those he was in the wrong part of the track.

Race 5: Handicap 1000m

The first of the straight races of the day, with the rail out expect them to be closer to the inside rail than is the norm. ABILITY (1) has plenty of that, he was formerly with the Smerdon yard and resumes off a long break. He won twice up the straight last prep including when resuming. The clever two kilo claim will help also.

Dangers:

SUNDAY ESCAPE (4) has good speed and is a multiple winner up the straight, he has been off the scene for 11 weeks. MALIBU STYLE (2) and LADY ESPRIT (3) come through the same form lines, but is the money comes for the top weight he looks a good thing.

Race 6: BM78 Handicap 1400m

MANTASTIC (14) for the Weir team is resuming after having a long lay-off and is debuting in Australia. He looks the most interesting runner of the day, he was a last start maiden winner in France, and has trialed well.

Dangers:

OVERSTEP (15) has been racing well this campaign, she needs to settle in her races and if she can get cover from the horrible draw she will be hard to beat. But drawn out over the 1400m here is often too much of a burden. MILES OF KRISHAN (9) is resuming, she has a super record fresh but from the horrible draw, she looks a win or run nowhere hope. WAYANKA (4) has five straight duck eggs next to his name, but if he can regain the form of his super win at this track last campaign he will be hard to hold out late.

Race 7: Handicap 1400m

MORTON’S FORK (3) raced so consistently last prep, his win last start at Caulfield was electrifying after racing well previously in NSW. Resuming today, he is likely to get back but with the right cover from the draw should be finishing hard. He has won fresh previously.

Dangers:

OZI CHOICE (7) was good in the Wangoom at the Bool before having no luck here last time when held-up at a vital stage. He was good through the line and should run on hard again here. AMOVATIO (1) was an eye-catcher last time and always races well here and has the draw to do so again. COOL CHAP (5) comes back in grade after contesting hotter races north of the border.

Race 8: Super VOBIS 3YO Handicap 2000m

It looks as open a race as you will see anywhere today, expect that you may be able to get close to double figure odds about the field at some stage of the betting. MASCULINO (1) is poorly drawn, will get back anyway though and was a real eye-catcher running on hard last time at the Valley. He looks better suited around the big circuit here. BLACK AND TAN (9) was good against the girls last time, this is harder but she has been hitting the line well at her last couple. NOTHIN’ LEICA HIGH (5) is a little on paced and will keep grinding away up the straight. MAZZURO (3) may have more upside than these, he is only lightly raced and has won both starts at 2000m or further. Plat wide.

Race 9: Super VOBIS 3YO Handicap 1000m

KING’S AUTHORITY (6) was good resuming but may have just peaked on his run late and ran out of condition. He was well beaten at his only other second-up run but he was good through the line and that was a black type race.

Dangers:

RODDANDTODD (7) is resuming, he has good speed and was a winner at the Valley over the 955m before going to the paddock. He wasn’t beaten far in a recent trial. AL PASSEM (5) may need the run, he got out to the mile in the Guineas last time and will have taken a lot from that. He has shown that he can sprint well fresh. MISS LEONIDAS (12) is a last start winner of an easier race on the heavy track, if there is any rain around she will shorten in the market and run a bold race.
