Warwick Farm (Wed)

Warwick Farm Racing Tips – Wed Apri 17

We will be at Warwick Farm this Wednesday.

Track: Soft 5. Rail: Out 5m 1000m – Winning Post. Out 3m the remainder.

Best Bet: Race 7 – WOLFE

Race 1: 3YO Maiden Plate Set Weights 1300m

ZOUOLOGIST (5) looks near on a good thing to start the day if he has come back well. He doesn’t always jump the best but he has enough tactical speed to be on pace, he was beaten as a short priced favourite here before going to the paddock. He wasn’t pushed out in a recent trial and this race doesn’t look very deep.

STELLA MARIS (8) did plenty wrong resuming but really attacked the line late, the extra 100m looks to suit and hopefully she is ridden for luck. With any splits at all in the straight off the inside draw she will be finishing hard. TASK AND PROMISE (9) gets the blinkers off for the first time, she has had enough chances but was ok fresh last campaign.  LES AMOUREUX (7) is resuming off a short 10-week break, she was very costly for punters at the back-end of her last prep and it may pay to wait until she gets to the mile.

Race 2: 2YO Handicap 1200m

Never easy with the babies, especially at this time of year, but ERNO (1) showed enough at his debut win to say he can take the next step. He wasn’t brilliantly away before getting the front, he was never really in danger there and there has been another horse come out of that race and win since. He should be on the pace for a long way.

ESCONDIDO (6) has been scratched recently but is only three weeks between runs, he still has a bit to learn but the ability is there. If he settles better, he can run into place. NOBLE BELLE (12) won a much easier maiden on debut at Nowra last time, she ran on hard from the back and there was a big margin back to third. PERALTA (13) gets the blinkers on for the first time at career start number three, he was ridden out to win a trial recently so they will be having a crack here fresh.

Race 3: 3&4YO BM70 Handicap 1100m

Tough race and it would surprise me if any of the seven return to the winner’s stall. RONSTAR (1) is resuming, he won on debut and was second at his only other fresh run, was a recent trial winner where when racing on the speed and maps to get a soft run behind the leader.

LET ME SLEEP ON IT (4) is an interesting runner also resuming for the Waterhouse/Bott yard, he tackled much harder races than this last prep and has trialed ok. There horses are usually ready to go resuming. BELLADEEL (5) also resumes but may want further, the small field suits though and INVICTUS SALUTE (6) will find this more suitable. She may be the leader and was run down when in front at Group Three level last time.

Race 4: BM74 Handicap 2200m

JAKE’S HILL (2) should be fully fit here now fourth-up, his efforts at his last two have been goo and this trip looks ideal back from the mile and a half last time. He gets the blinkers on for the first time and should be charging through the line from mid-field late.

BAJAN GOLD (6) and SCREAMARR (5) come through the same race. BAJAN GOLD (6) beat him home on that occasion and did have excuses, he will need a dry track though. SCREAMARR (5) is also fourth-up from a spell, he placed at his first couple then wasn’t far away in a pack finish last time but took all the shortcuts. FREE FLY TOO (7) is the opposite, he will want the sting out of the ground like last time here when he was a good winner in tougher grade. If it is wet, he comes right into top pick.

Race 5: BM72 Handicap 1200m

REELIM IN RUBY (10) is resuming, she has yet to miss a place in her short three start career and has trialed really nicely for this. She was only a narrow winner resuming last time at maiden level but she made up a stack of ground and was strong through the line. Look for her late.

VONTAINE (5) is resuming and has trialed well, she was off the scene a long time since travelling to Qld for their carnival last Winter. Her stable is flying. NICCO LAD (4) had no luck when resuming against the boys in easier grade, he won his maiden second-up last prep up on the speed. ECHO JET (2) won here at his home track last start on the heavy, he was fresh that day and is a winner at his only other second-up start.

Race 6: Fillies and Mares BM70 Handicap 1300m

LUCKY HELMET (4) looks to have the right form line here, she was resuming at this track three weeks ago when she got well back, came the widest approaching the straight then ran on hard into a place. The winner of that race has since come out and beat some handy 3YP on Saturday, and she is a winner at her only other second-up run. She maps beautifully and expect Avdulla to have her closer than what she was when resuming.

PERFECT PITCH (2) has had two runs back, he ran on well behind Kylease who came out and brained them at Gosford last week and wasn’t far away against the boys last time here. She gets the blinkers for the first time. MAHALO (1) is an interesting runner coming across the ditch from NZ so watch the betting with her and REGINE (3) has trialed quietly for her return today, she may want it further though.

Race 7: BM78 Handicap 1600m

WOLFE (10) is resuming today after winning his first two races last prep, he led at both of them and never really looked in any danger. It is tough going straight to the mile fresh, but she has trialed three times and gets the blinkers on, she will be ready to go.

Dangers: PUMPKIN PIE (6) was wide with cover throughout last start but kept chasing hard and wasn’t beaten far, The Richard Freedman stable is going well. SEMPER FIDELIS (4) is consistent but would probably prefer the sting out of the ground. SONDELON (3) is a stablemate to the top pick and I doubt they would want to get in a dogfight early, they both like to be on the speed.

Race 8: BM74 Handicap 1400m

RESTRAINED (6) won his first three races before sitting wide on the speed and without cover last time and was narrowly beaten out of a place. That was harder than this and he did SP favourite that day, if he didn’t have the horror draw here, he would be a moral? May just mean we get a better price.

MAKTOUM (1) is a Kiwi that comes here with three wins at his last five starts, he resumed at Ellerslie and ran on well from mid-field to score in a race that has had three subsequent winners come from it. Watch the betting with him. MUSHAIREB (2) is resuming of a long spell and has had a change of stable, now with the in-form Richard Freedman yard. He has been given a couple of very easy trials into this and gets a couple of gear changes. CLOAK (13) is a stablemate to the top pick and may be the leader, he was in front all the way winning an easier race as favourite last time.
