Hawkesbury Racing Tips – Wed Mar 20

Our man’s best comes in the opening race with Disco Mo ($3.90), while in the last race on the card he’s put an in-form $9 chance on top.

Track: Heavy 10. Rail: True.

Best Bet: Race 1 – DISCO MO

===

Race 1: Maiden Plate 1000m

Happy to say that one of the first-starters will win this, DISCO MO (4) really looks ready to go after a solid trial last week. He got back over the 740m trial, got very wide and attacked the line nicely out wide without being pressured over the last 100m. The inside may not be the place to be but the trial was great on rain affected ground.

Dangers:

GREAT AFFAIR (5) is also facing the starter for the first time, he has also trialed well but was pushed right out. Watch the betting. SILLY SALLY (6) was a big drifter at her debut, she hasn’t been to the races in 43 weeks since that effort but has trialed well. She is a 5YO after having only 1 start so she has obviously had her issues. GLOWING CAT (1) is resuming, he wasn’t far away in an easier race last time but the trial was a little bit ordinary. Money the key with this yard.

Race 2: Maiden Handicap 1600m

ESTROVERTO (11) has only placed at one of his 8 career runs, but he is racing a lot better than that. That placing was on a rain affected track three back, not beaten far two starts ago then was unlucky at Newcastle last time. He will probably be friendless in the betting with such a poor record but he is getting close and draws well.

Dangers:

DUCHESS OF WINDSOR (10) was poor last time but may have had an excuse, her only soft track run she charged home on a soft track at Canberra. A little concerning that she is having her 6th start at prep number one. SPEED CAMERA (9) is never far away and DREAM FIELDS (6) has good tactical speed and should be on the speed for a long way.

Race 3: 2YO Maiden Plate Set Weights 1300m

More than half of the 14 starters are on debut, DRESDEN GREEN (2) is unlucky to still qualify for this race as a maiden on a couple of fronts. He was first across the line last start but lost the race on protest, he was wide throughout and still had the audacity to cross the line first, draws well here and love the jockey change with Clark going on.

Dangers:

JETSKI (3) gets the blinkers here for start number two, he had plenty of excuses on debut and was all over the shop late. The stable certainly knows how to get a juvenile to win! KILLIN (4) is an interesting runner that debuted in NZ at Group Two level and wasn’t beaten far on a soft track, watch the betting with him first-up for the Kris Lees stable. He has trialed well. KRAMERIC (5) is resuming and tackled harder races at its first prep and must be respected from the Waller yard.

Race 4: BM70 Handicap 1000m

I AM A COOL KID (3) was beaten at a very short quote at Canterbury last time, he bolted in at a Highway race prior to that. He has good speed and will go forward, untried on the rain affected ground but the SP profile reads well.

Dangers:

BLACK CHILLI (1) is resuming, he has won fresh and his only try on a heavy track he was most unlucky when cluttered up on the inside when the best going was out wide. SHADOW BRIDGE (6) has won two of his three runs, resuming today, he will go forward and be hard to catch. One of those wins was on a soft track so he should handle the going. ARIEGE (11) won her maiden resuming, she led all the way and is drawn well> She has been on the heavy once and kept finding the line well.

Race 5: Fillies and Mares BM70 Handicap 1100m

MNULTAJA (2) drops a stack in grade after competing at Group Two level south of the border last time, she was super through the line after being very wide throughout. The second horse from that race has since come out and won in town in Vic, if she handles the track, she wins.

Dangers:

JEN RULES (6) is resuming and goes well fresh, she has only been on the heavy track once for a dominant maiden win when running on from the back. Look for her late. UNGUARDED (5) is resuming, she may want further but was good on the heavy track prior to going to the paddock. INVICTUS SALUTE (4) wasn’t far away at Listed level last prep at her first start out of maiden grade, she was well beaten resuming but was found to be slow to recover.  A little concerning her performance there at what was her first go on a rain affected track. She looks a good lay.

Race 6: BM76 Handicap 1300m

AL MAH HAHA (4) is a last start winner when trapped off the track without cover and was tough late to hold them off after such a tough run. He doesn’t have a great record in the wet so the track would need to improve.

Dangers:

THE AUGUST (1) gets the blinkers off and the winkers on, he found the winner too good when second-up last time but may have just raced a little flat. He was super fresh on the rain affected track, expect he can bounce back here. GRIMOIRE (7) comes through the same formline but had every chance last time, OBELOS (8) is an interesting runner having his first Australian start, watch for any money for him and must be respected from the Waller yard.

Race 7: BM70 Handicap 1600m

AMANGIRI (9) has to step out of maiden grade here and take on the boys, but wow was she impressive winning last start. She sat up on the speed without cover and when she kicked early in the straight she put a gap in them and won comfortably. The wet track may be the only thing that can stop her, she will go through the grades nicely.

Dangers:

BE MINDFUL (3) will be giving them a start, he has won his last two but will need everything to go right, will be giving the favourite a start and is unknown in the wet also. SEA SPIRIT (2) was good at his first start in NSW for the new yard, INVICTA (1) next best, he goes well in the conditions and is mapped to settle closer, look for him late.

Race 8: BM74 Handicap 2100m

CALIFORNIAFIREBIRD (4) didn’t have much luck in a harder race last time, he was double figure odds but he really hit the line well.  He has been up for a while but is racing well, in what is an open race he looks good value at double figure odds on an each-way basis.

Dangers:

ALLCASH (5) kept grinding away after a wide run last time and only narrowly went down, he doesn’t win out of turn but is very consistent. FREE FLY TOO (6) and FOREIGN TERRITORY (2) come through the same race where the latter was the victor, Free Fly Too may have more upside. Tough race to finish.
