The Big 6!

Last week’s Big 6 was reduced to a Big 5 after a scratching. We came up short, again, with 1 winner, Master Of Wine. A loss of 2.8 units.

Onto this week:

MORNINGTON

R4 #11 SIZZLEFLY

Ticks a lot of boxes. She gets ion very light with the claiming jock, she has won both races she has run at the track and is undefeated first-up. She will be giving them a start but should be flashing late, the pace should be a ripper.

R5 #2 SALSAMOR

Is going for a hattrick of wins, he was perfectly ridden behind the speed ta Flemington two back then went to Wangaratta for the Cup and was way too good after being forced to sit up on the speed. He has shown he can do work, good to see they have stuck with the 3kg claiming kid.

ROSEHILL

R4 #5 VERRY ELLEEGANT

Is not one of mine but happy to put her on top here presuming that it will still be a heavy track come race time. Six of her seven wins have been on rain affected going, she should be fully fit here and was good last start just finding one better. C’mon the rain!

R5 #2 TE AKAU SHARK

Spotted them 7L and won running away fresh in fast time. Produced sectionals reserved for the absolute elite in brilliant Chipping Norton win. Back 100m around Rosehill but have to stick with him on top here!

(Oz Racing Form)

R6 #2 SHADOW HERO

Was solid from the back when resuming over a shorter trip on a track where the back-markers were getting no favours. He then came out and was brilliantly ridden to win the Randwick Guineas on a sift track. The conditions shouldn’t worry him and hard to see them turning the tables on him here.

MORPHETTVILLE

R8 #6 HANDSOME RETURN

Despite finishing last thought this blokes first-up run was a cracker when still only beaten two lengths when simply run off his feet early over the unsuitably short 1050m. Was hitting the line at least as well as anything late however. Gets massive positive rider change gaining the services of Todd Pannell, that has won his only two previous attempts on board this gelding whilst has also won twice previously second-up as well. Steps up to his preferred trip of 1300m, again where he has the good record of two wins from just three attempts whilst maps to settle a lot more ominously closer. Think he is a cracking each-way bet at the opening $8! Concede the the favourite, Beauty ($2.50), has the numbers to again be horribly hard to beat, however the concern is she gets a stack of gear changes, at least too many for my liking at the short odds.
