Rosehill (Sat)

Rosehill Racing Tips – Sat July 13

We will be at Rosehill this Saturday.

Track: Heavy 8. Rail: Out 3m entire circuit.

Best Bet: Race 2 – CINQUEDEA

Race 1: 2YO Handicap 1100m

TRUE DETECTIVE (3) is resuming, he had the one run in the Summer here at Rosehill and won narrowly after a nice ride in behind the speed. A little worrying that in the 19 weeks since that run there has not been another winner come from that race, his trials have been good leading up to this and hopefully the money will come.

LANIERA (1) is lining up for start number 7 as a 2YO, he was off the map to win his maiden at Newcastle last time and was impressive leading all the way. He looks to have come back well this prep. NOT FEINT HEARTED (2) is resuming with the blinkers on for the first time, he won on debut then was outclassed at start two. LUCICELLO (5) notched up her maiden win last time on a very heavy track so the conditions won’t worry her, this is harder though.

Race 2: 3YO BM74 Handicap 1500m

CINQUEDEA (3) is racing well at the moment, his last two wins have been gap jobs by a combined total of more than 8 lengths. Last time at Newcastle he had a soft run but showed a great turn-of-foot to quickly put them away over the last furlong. That looks the best way to ride him and he maps beautifully again.

PHAISTOS (2) was an easing favourite here last time in a similar race, he had no luck when the runs were coming and really closed hard late when out. He was a real eye-catcher with some good closing sectionals and he loves the wet. CALL ME ROYAL (1) was the winner of that race when leading all the way, that looks her role again. She has not finished further back than 2nd in four runs here. THINK FREE (5) also comes through that same formline and ran on well when the tempo didn’t really suit.

Race 3: Highway Class 3 Handicap 1400m

DULETTE (3) is drawn horribly but he showed last start that he can sit wide without cover and still have enough left at the back-end to win. That was an easier Highway race but he can take the next step.

ZARDORO (2) had no luck here a month ago and only got going late, he probably should have won the race. GUMSHOE (1) won a similar race at Randwick last start on a heavy track, up in the weights here and drawn out she will have to improve a little. GALAPAGOS (4) was going to be ridden further forward in that race last time but settled mid-field, expect that they will be hunting through to be on the speed here.

Race 4: BM78 Handicap 2000m

PRIMITIVO (2) has won two of his last four runs, including last start at Randwick three weeks ao on a Heavy 8. That race has produced two subsequent winners and he had the best overall sectionals of the race. It lo9ok s the right form for a race like this, look for him late.

HIGH POWER (3) comes through the same race and was also good closing late after not getting the run early in the straight. HOGMANAY (1) has only been racing fairly but is a three-time winner here at the track and drops significantly in grade. AMEROCK (8) is an interesting runner that has good form in easier races in VIC, look for any money for him.

Race 5: Fillies and Mares BM78 Handicap 1100m

SPIRITUAL PURSUIT (3) looks very hard to beat but you will have to take close to flip of the coin odds. She showed a great turn-of-foot last time to beat the boys at this level, loves the heavy tracks with a perfect record of 2/2 when racing on them. She is versatile, can lead or come from mid-field, she looks one of the best of the day.

DEITY (4) handles all conditions and will run on hard from the back, she will be giving away the tactical advantage to the top pick though and unless they go crazy up front, it is hard to see her running them down. AGENT PIPPA (5) is a new addition to the Kris Lees yard, her form in WA was a little enigmatic. SOUL STAR (10) has been in between Sydney and Melbourne this campaign, she doesn’t look to have the brilliance of the favourite but will keep coming in the straight.

Race 6: BM78 Handicap 1500m

It looks a very open race on paper and the prices may reflect that. NICOCHET (12) was never in the race last start but hit the line well, he needs everything to go right with his pattern of getting back but I can see the speed on for him here which should suit.

Most of them. CYBER INTERVENTION (9) resumed on the Kenso track last time and was really good late, that was his first go in these conditions and he looked to handle it well. LOVE SHACK BABY (8) will be up on the speed, NAHUEL (3) made some ground resuming and will be fitter for the run. Tough race, play wide in exotics and in the first leg of the Quad.

Race 7: Winter Stakes 1400m

GAULOIS (5) may need a little luck from the inside draw as he will be back in the run, but I am anticipating a hot tempo and the gaps should open up. He was good winning recently here when storming home from the back in the best closing sectionals of the race. With even luck he can climb over the top of them late.

NEW TIPPERARY (3) comes through that same race, he was a little closer in the run and appeared to have every chance. FIRSTHAND (4) split those two, he was a lot closer to the speed and stuck on well. Not sure where he will get to in the run from the wide draw, his best bet may be to go forward and look for cover. ECKSTEIN (2) comes back from Qld after tackling the Group One Tatts Tiara, she hit the line well in that without really ever looking like the winner. Good race with many chances.

Race 8: BM88 Handicap 1200m

After playing wide in the first couple of legs of the Quaddie, we can narrow it down a little more here. RIVER BIRD (14) faces her biggest test to date but she is flying this prep with three wins from four. She gets in very light taking on the older horses and loses nothing with Kathy O’Hara going on. She will be on the speed for a long wand handles the wet.

SOUTHERN LAD (8) hasn’t missed a place this campaign, last time at Randwick he was held-up early in the straight before finally getting a split and letting down nicely to score. He just needs to settle in the run and he will finish hard. MAHALANGUR (1) is fresh off a 7-week break, he was only fair last time but did appear in the steward’s report as pulling up lame. He handles the wet well and looks a good each-way bet at double figures. SINGLE BULLET (2) may sneak into the back end of the exotics but happy to play just the three of them in the Quad.

Race 9: Colts Geldings and Entires BM78 Handicap 1200m

BRILLIANT CHOICE (10) is resuming, he sat up on the speed when winning resuming last prep and then tried to lead all the way at Flemington and only getting run down late by a smart one. He looks to have a stack of upside, has the speed to lead all the way here.

HANDLE THE TRUTH (7) was brave in defeat last start by River Bird who goes around in the previous race, see how that form line holds up. He has versatility and off the inside gate, McDougall will have some decisions to make early. TRAUMATISED (6) comes through that same form line and would have traded very short in the run, he looked the winner before the winner kicked back again late. He should get an economical run mid-field, look for him late. DRACHENFELS (1) also placed in that same race, it looks the right form line. He will be closer to last than first at the top of the straight but can reel off some quick late sectionals.
