Rosehill Racing Tips – Sat May 30th
We will be at Rosehill this Saturday.
Track: Heavy 9. Rail: +6m 1400m to WP, +4m remainder.
Best Bet: Race 4 – TRUMBULL
Race 1: 2YO Handicap 1100m
SUPREMO (5) is a debutant form the John Thompson yard that gets the services of Nash Rawiller. He rode him in the latest trial at Randwick on a soft track, he was urged along late but I liked the way he ran through the line when asked.
ANDERS (1) would have gone on top off his brilliant win at Wyong in the wet, but with the track drying up, have to be against him if he is at the top of the betting.
SEPTEMBER RUN (7) (scratched) PROUD MIA (11) is a dual acceptor and looks a chance if she runs here. Her win at Queanbeyan on debut was briliant when never looking like getting beat in front. This is obviously harder.
Race 2: Highway Class 2 Handicap 1400m
READY TO HUMBLE (2) won two in a row before coming to town for his first crack at a Highway last time. He led and after being challenged in the straight, stuck on well for second. He has the good draw and should be hard to run down again.
SAFE LANDING (1) showed improvement last start when up on the speed on a heavy track, he was very well backed also. He probably wants more rain? DEEPWOOD VALE (9) won two in a row before going to the paddock, she was goo resuming running on without having much luck at a couple of vital stages.
EMMA’S JET (4) has the horror draw to overcome, he was very heavily backed at Ipswich last start, Nash rides and hard to line up the form from up north.
Race 3: 3YO BM74 Handicap 1200m
SALLY’S DAY (9) was a soft track winner at Wyong resuming, it was a huge win after being wide without cover and finishing off with some of the best sectionals of the day. She then came here at Listed level two weeks ago and again reeled off some good times late. With even luck she should be very hard to beat.
ATLANTIC KING (14) is an interesting runner first-up for the Matty Dunn yard. He has had a couple of trials in town and showed plenty of ability at his first prep. A big watch on the betting with him. MILITARY MAGIC (6) comes through the same black-type race as the top pick, they changed the tactics and rode her quietly, she finished off well without ever threatening. EDISON (4) resumes after being gelded, he handles all conditions.
Race 4: BM88 Handicap 1500m
TRUMBULL (4) ran on well on the Kenso track two back before coming here last time in a Listed race. He was very well backed in the last couple of hours of betting, after notifying that they wanted to ride him closer, he missed the start and was clearly last. He ran on hard and was a real eye-catcher late, hard to say he would have won but clearly the start cost him.
Looking forward to this race. SOLDIER OF LOVE (11) won second-up at Randwick, he sprinted nicely when asked and handles the sting out of the track. Not sure he will be in front of the top pick though in the run? SURE KNEE (2) resumed in a much harder race, forget she went around in that. She was checked in the straight and only clear late. She has won second-up previously. ARTICUS (1) may run on into a place but he has a poor record here at the track.
Race 5: BM88 Handicap 1200m
FITEUSE (8) is flying, the John Thompson trained filly has won both starts this prep with authority. She resumed at the Kenso track and sat wide on the speed and bolted in before coming here a fortnight ago. She was mid-field off eth fence in the run and let down nicely to run away for a soft win. She maps well again, no reason she can’t make it three on the bounce?
IMPROVEMENT (4) will find this easier than her last two runs, she was ridden closer last time and although she appeared to have every chance, she did appear in the steward’s report with a laceration. NOBLE BOY (1) was only fair fist-up but does get some weight relief and ESPERANCE (5) next best, hard to line-up his form from Vic and it has been a long time between drinks. How do they beat the fave?
Race 6: Fillies and Mares BM78 Handicap 1400m
BOUND TO WIN (11) beat up on the girls last time in easier grade at Warwick Farm. She was slowly away and steadied off heels early in the race, was well back in the run before unleashing a a burst early in the straight. She found the front inside the furlong and kept going for a soft win. She was unlucky fresh and looks to have come back well.
MISS EINSTEIN (6) has placed at her last two on rain affected tracks, she will also be giving them a start and needs to settle better than she did last time. STATUESQUELY (5) is resuming and has placed at both prior fresh runs, being a Gai/Bott runner no doubt she will be up on the speed. She was also a recent trial winner. RIVA CAPRI (9) was held-up a vital stage last start before flashing home late, this is harder though.
Race 7: Lord Mayors Cup 2000m
A lot will depend on if BOTTEGA (18) gets a start here as the second emergency. He placed at two on a row taking on his own age group before getting a start in a BM78 at Randwick three weeks ago. He was well back in the run and went past them like they were standing still in the straight to win easily. He will get back again, if they are running on here he looks a great bet.
If he doesn’t go here, DR DRILL (4) looks the one. He was a well backed at double figure odds to win the Scone Cup last start, he should be handy in the run. YULONG PRONCE (2) kept coming in the Gosford Cup but is very one paced, ILWENDO (15) comes through that same race. He will be up on the speed and handles all conditions.
Race 8: BM78 Handicap 1300m
SAKURA (10) over-raced but stuck on ok when resuming on the heavy track, again she hit the line well last time at the Kenso three weeks ago behind a couple of smart ones. She has the wide draw to overcome but gets a huge jockey change with Berry taking over from Rachel King, will he go forward?
TRUE DETECTIVE (6) was well beaten by the star Dawn Passage last time, the start prior was back in this grade and he would have traded short in the run after hitting the lead and getting run down late. STARSPANGLED RODEO (5) had the run of the race resuming at Canterbury, he did enough to win but was all out on the line. He will be fitter for this and does have a good record at two previous second-up runs. JUVENTUS (3) gets a soft run on the rails off the inside draw, his last two have been super and no doubt Hughie will make all the right decisions when the runs come.
Race 9: BM78 Handicap 1100m
ADELONG (6) is another that is absolutely flying at the moment. She was a here a fortnight ago having her first look at the track, she kicked through to lead and never gave anything else a chance producing the best last 400m of the race to run away. Hard for them to catch her when she is running those times! Drawn well, Hughie takes the ride, hard to beat again.
SUPERIUM (3) is resuming and has a great record fresh. The problem is that he will be giving the top pick a big start. See how the track is playing and as always respect moves either way with this stable. ECHO JET (2) is first-up and has trialed very well. He has won well fresh previously but just may get run off his feet early from the wide gate??
MANSA MUSA (5) will go forward, his chances will rely on if he can get to the fence first.
