Rosehill Racing Tips – Sat June 15
We will be at Rosehill this Saturday.
Track: Soft 6. Rail: Out 6m entire circuit.
Best Bet: Race 6 – HUSH WRITER
Race 1: 2YO Handicap 1100m
ROTATOR (5) has been to the races three times, she resumed and missed by the smallest margin last time after running on hard from behind the speed, she missed by a similar margin on debut in the Widden Stakes back in the Summer against some of the best juveniles in the land.
ENFORCEMENT (6) has to step up from a Newcastle maiden but wow was he impressive. He is likely to get further back here but his closing speed was phenomenal last time. MINTED (4) led all the way to get his maiden win last time, the runner-up in that race as come out and brained them on Wednesday. BLAZING MISS (3) is also a last start maiden winner that had to survive it in the steward’s room. She maps well again but this is harder.
Race 2: Highway Class 3 Set Weights 1500m
GALAPAGOS (14) won on debut but is yet to win since. He stormed home at Tamworth two back in a race that has proved to be a good form reference, and then chased hard behind the smart Kolding at Randwick to place last time. Back to a Highway he looks well suited.
GENTLE PERSUASION (11) won two in a row before not really getting a crack at them at Scone last time at the carnival. She has the horror draw and will need to be a pearler of a ride from Parr. VIGORISH (8) ran on hard in an easier Highway last time to narrowly miss, he was truckloaded to win that and was closing hard. TIM’S PRINCIPAL (1) is also drawn out and will get back, he needs everything to go right but will hit the line hard.
Race 3: BM94 Handicap 1300m
PASSAGE OF TIME (1) is racing so well this prep, he was most unlucky fresh, won at the Kenso before a decent effort in a much harder race north of the border. He then came back here a fortnight ago, had a soft run before angling clear and running on well to win again. He is so consistent and will be up on the speed.
ASTERIUS (4) bolted in to beat some handy ones here last time, he looks a decent risk from the draw but if the run comes, he will fly late. SLOW BURN (7) has the ear muffs for the first time, she has won 2/5 fresh but did have problems at the back-end of her last campaign. Watch for any support for her. FRAGONARD (8) was ok behind the top pick last time and has had a 6-week freshen-up.
Race 4: 3&4YO BM78 Handicap 1200m
ENGLAND (7) has won both starts this prep, they decided to ride him quieter last time and he relished it, running on hard from the back. He has to step up again here and is against the older horses, but he has improved at each start.
SNOW VALLEY (10) won her first three starts, has been ok at Listed level both times this prep. She will also be giving them a start but the tempo should suit. LJUNBERG (6) should have the cold sit on the leaders and be ready to pounce, he is consistent and a winner this pattern. CHARLAYNE (2) won resuming at Randwick, she will also give them a start so the tactics between the top picks from back in the field will be interesting.
Race 5: BM88 Handicap 1800m
QUACKERJACK (10) may be over bet here after his brilliant win last time, he may have been flattered the way the race was run but he looks well drawn out wide. He can cruise across from the barrier and even if he has to sit outside the leader, he should be too quick when they turn from home.
MISTER BELVEDERE (8) is an import that won his first Australian start in a much easier race south of the border, they obviously have an opinion of her and he will have improved off that. SO YOU WIN (7) won well last time, the margin wasn’t huge but they gapped third. He maps well and gets the soft run in behind the leaders. GRESHAM (5) doesn’t win out of turn but is consistent, he will appreciate getting the better track surface.
Race 6: Winter Cup Quality 2400m
HUSH WRITER (4) is an import that showed potential through his first Oz prep in Vic during the Spring, he was sent to the paddock and resumed at Rosehill last time. He was in behind the speed in the run, found the top early in the straight and kicked strongly. The margin wasn’t huge but he was firs-up, he is a winner second-up previously and looks to have come back well.
YOGI (1) has the class, he is a Sandown Cup winner, came to Sydney for the Autumn but didn’t really fire. You know what you will get from him, he will be back in the field and making ground. He doesn’t have a great turn-of-foot but will keep grinding. SAUNTER BOY (6) is an interesting runner, he wasn’t suited by the tempo at his first Oz start and will be fitter for the run. HIGH BRIDGE (7) ran on hard behind the top pick last time but had the fitness edge and was suited the way the race was run. Happy to risk him here.
Race 7: Fillies and Mares BM78 Handicap 1500m
Tough race. PAULITA (1) is an import that was only fair fresh in her first Oz run. She showed speed but tired late, this looks no harder and the big field may assist her. She will roll forward and may have to sit in the breeze, from there she will be making her own luck. She will have taken plenty off that fresh run off a 31-week break.
NICCI’S GOLD (2) will be giving them a start but if she is ridden for luck, she will run on hard. She has a brilliant record second-up and was a real eye-catcher fresh. PANDEMONIUM (4) has good speed and will be looking for the top, she is a last start winner and the horse that ran third in that race has come out and brained them on Wednesday. EVALINA (9) will get back, she has been racing well this time in, forget the 6L margin two back at Scone, that was unfair.
Race 8: BM88 Handicap 1100m
SYLVIA’S MOTHER (12) is fresh and has trialed really well, she bolted in last prep fresh after being heavily backed. She went through the grades nicely last prep where she won three in a row, she chased hard at her latest at Group Two level, she maps mid-field and if the money comes for her late, get on hard.
TONY NICCONI (10) has been gelded since we last saw him at work, he will roll forward early from the wide draw and has trialed well winning twice in preparation for this.
ALMANZORA (6) is resuming, she ran ono hard when last in work at Group level and has trialed well. NEWSFAN (7) was ok resuming, she ran on well when well beaten and comes back in trip here. She has a good record second-up (3:1-2-0).
Race 9: BM78 Handicap 1300m
KAPAJACK (2) will start the shortest price favourite of the day, on a programme where there is going to be a lot of shorties. He was good at the Kenso track last fresh then brained them here last time, his pattern is to naturally get back so he does need everything to go right. In saying that, his finishing speed was remarkable last time.
MAPMAKER (7) was beaten out of sight by him last time but he had no luck when looking for a run and lost all momentum. He only got clear late, if he gets the back of the fave he is a big chance to run into a place. METAMORPHIC (12) was good fresh and has a decent record second-up, NICOCHET (13) is consistent but doesn’t win out of turn. If he gets a start, he must be thrown into all exotics.
