Randwick (Sat)

Randwick Racing Tips – Sat Oct 19

We will be at Randwick this Saturday.

Track: Good 4. Rail: True.

Best Bet: Race 5 – VICTOREM

Race 1: Victory Vein Plate 2YO Set Weights and Penalties 1000m

Too hard with all but two of them coming to the races for the first time. POSTCODE (1) looks the best of those two that have raced previously, he was runner-up in the Breeders Plate after a soft rails run. Watch for any money for those on debut, in particular ENDORSE (4), GRAVINA (5) and TIME IS PRECIOUS (10).

Race 2: BM78 Handicap 2000m

HUMBOLDT CURRENT (2) has placed at his last couple, he was up o the speed two back before being narrowly beaten and then was beaten as favourite by the subsequent Port Macquarie Cup winner Rapido Chaparro. He will go forward, if he leads or gets the soft run behind the leader, he will be hard to beat.

ANGEL OF HEAVEN (3) is very consistent, she will be giving them a start and this doesn’t look much harder. She produced the best last 400m of the race last time to get closest at the line. MAID OF ORE (4) may have been favoured by the way the race was run last time but she is flying having won her last three. She will go forward early and be making her own luck. LADY CUVEE (6) gets a positive jockey change with Hughie replacing Brock Ryan, this is harder than last time.

Race 3: Highway Class 3 Handicap 1100m

Never a big fan of these highway’s. BURNING CROWN (2) is very consistent, he will go forward and make his own luck up on the speed. It has been a while since he has won and has been costly for punters, but you know what you will get from him. Kurt Goldman looks to hold the key here but his stable is very hard to catch. IRISH SONGS (3) and EQUAL BALANCE (4) are both drawn poorly for that yard but go well. CAN’T FIND SNIPPY (1) is drawn horribly out wide but has trialed well for this off a very long break. Tough race with most of the chances drawn very wide. No confidence at all.

Race 4: Reginald Allen Quality 3YO Fillies 1400m

AKARI (10) is coming out of a maiden win at Wyong and has to take a huge step up in class, although the margin wasn’t huge, there was a bit of authority about it. She over-raced, was wide without cover but kept coming late to get up on the line after being heavily backed.

It looks an open race on paper. CHARLEISE (9) was a good maiden winner at Geelong two back when leading all the way then went to the Valley and settled further back in a harder race and found the line ok. BETCHA FLYING (5) was ok fresh running on, she won her maiden second-up last campaign and will appreciate the extra trip here. STILL SINGLE (4) will get back from the draw but should run on hard like she did winning her maiden last start.

Race 5: The Kosciuszko Set Weights and Penalties 1200m

VICTOREM (1) wasn’t beaten far at Group One level over the Winter and went on to win at Listed level the next start. He has been set for this race resuming today with two official trial under his belt, with the set weight she looks well in against this lot and although he will be giving them a start, will be flashing late.

HANDLE THE TRUTH (8) had no luck when resuming here a fortnight ago, he was held-up before getting chopped out when the runs came and did well to finish so close, the margin was certainly unfair and probably should have won? He maps to be up on the speed. NOBLE BOY (3) is also resuming, he comes through that same race the top pick won in Brisbane last time and has trialed well also. He is likely to be closer in the run but will need to be. DON’T GIVE A DAMN (4) has the inside draw which may be a blessing with the rail back in the true position, he had no luck when resuming here at the track and should be getting an economical run.

Race 6: Sydney Stakes WFA 1200m

BRUTAL (1) doesn’t get a start in the big one today but looks a moral here. The Doncaster winner was brilliant winning when resuming, sat up on the speed and although he probably needed the run, accelerated hard and was too tough. He may still need further but is all class.

CHAMPAGNE CUDDLES (12) gets the blinkers again and is drawn well in the middle of the line, I can see them being positive with her early and getting the sit on the leaders. She has had her chances at her two runs back but should be at peak fitness here. HOME OF THE BRAVE (2) kicked back well after leading in that same race Brutal won last time, he would need the track to be favouring the on-pacers and get a better run than the fave to turn the tables. DEPRIVE (6) was a brilliant winner here in Sydney before two good runs in Melbourne. He is likely to be giving them a start but should be flashing late.

Race 7: The Everest WFA 1200m

ARCADIA QUEEN (11) came over from WA with a big boom and did nothing to deflate those expectations with her slashing win at Rosehill last time when resuming. She had a soft run in transit, eased around the leaders and ran on hard for a soft win. What was really impressive was her acceleration when she got out, this is obviously harder and she comes back in trip, but she maps so well. She is a star.

YES YES YES (12) I s aa 3Yo taking on the older horses, he has placed at both runs back and with the blinkers on, the set-up looks good again for him to run on from the back. This is harder than what he has been racing in his own age group but should be peaking here. CLASSIQUE LEGEND (6) will be better than midfield in the run and just needs cover, he has been good in two runs back, this has been the goal and although he has had his chances of late, the tracks may not have been in his favour. SANTA ANA LANE (1) was a real eye-catcher in the Gilgai up the straight last start where he gave Sunlight an impossible start. He has won 3/8 second-up, last time he came here over this trip he won the TJ by 3.5 lengths before going to Hong Kong. Cracking race.

Race 8: Craven Plate WFA 2000m

If you said at the start of the season that we would get to a Craven Plate and SAMADOUBT (2) would be bordering on favourtism, you would have said I was crazy. But he has been really flying this prep, sure, he has been aided by some opposition working into their prep’s and tracks that have favoured being on speed, but you know what you will get with him. He will jump, lead, kick at the turn and make them catch him.

HAPPY CLAPPER (1) has placed at both runs back, firstly behind the top pick and then last time in the George Main he made ok ground. He doesn’t seem to have a lot of brilliance and will take the length f the straight to run down Samadoubt, if he does. LIFE LESS ORDINARY (3) never got into the race fresh but showed improvement in the Hill Stakes. He has a good record third-up and will close late. STAMPEDE (4) comes back in trip from the Metropolitan last start where he led and was run down. The lead isn’t there for him today, will be interesting to see where Hippo settles, outside the top pick or takes a sit.

Race 9: ATC ST Leger Stakes Set Weights and Penalties 2600m

GALLIC CHIEFTAIN (3) stormed home in the Metropolitan from a mile back to narrowly miss in a blanket finish, the blinkers go off again and he should be rock hard fit here fourth-up from a spell. He had been running on fairly early in the prep but really looks better suited over this trip.

YOUNGSTAR (6) comes back from WFA to set weights here, she made some ground in teh straight last start on a day when very few were (besides the winner). It’s been a long while since she has won but she certainly has the talent. SIR CHARLES ROAD (4) stuck on well in the same race last time after sitting up on the speed, he was big odds but should be making his own luck again. CARZOFF (5) gets a big jockey change with JMac replacing Sam Clipperton, he has been up for a while but his last two have been full of merit.

Race 10: The Spring Mile Handicap 1600m

CASCADIAN (1) had targeted the Epsom last start, this may be an afterthought but he certainly will find this easier. He made ok ground on a day when it wasn’t easy to, draws well but I am not sure what to make of the fact Schofield goes on? Yet to win since arriving in Oz, this looks his best chance.

EMPEROR’S WAY (7) was ok resuming and may not have been suited the way the track was playing, well drawn with a positive jockey going on he can improve here. DEALMAKER (11) is a last start winner whilst JUNIPAL (12) has been racing well this campaign before not getting into it in the Epsom. Happy to lay him though giving them a start.
