Randwick (Sat)

Randwick Racing Tips – Sat Oct 12

We will be at Randwick this Saturday.

Track: Soft 5. Rail: Out 6m 1600m – winning post. Out 4m the remainder.

Best Bet: Race 5 – MICROPHONE

Race 1: Highway Class 3 Handicap 1600m

EMANUELA (4) has the wide draw to contend with, she is likely to get back anyway. She has won back to back races at Scone when running on from mid-field, she just needs the right horse to follow to the turn.

BLACK WAND (3) won a Highway before going to the paddock, tough ask straight to the mile but he really goes well in this class and the concussion plates come off. TEXAS STORM (2) was unlucky two back but appeared to have every chance at Newcastle last time. This looks no easier. GOTTA WANT IT (7) has won three on the bounce, the latest at Canberra she was held-up behind the leader before getting a late split to score on the line.

Race 2: BM88 Handicap 2000m

MASTER OF WINE (12) gets in well with just the 53.5 kgs here, he is still yet to win out of maiden grade but has been running on well. He has had two starts back this prep, both here at the track and has placed after hitting the line well, beaten under a length both times.

RE EDIT (11) comes through the same form line last time, he was held-up at a vital stage but looked very poor thereafter, willing to forgive that run as he lost momentum when the runs came. RAPIDO CHAPARRO (8) looks the leader and is always hard to run down, he bolted in at Canterbury two back but won’t want any rain around. ALIFEROUS (5) should be nearing peak fitness now here third-up, she hit the line ok last time although she was laying in over the last furlong.

Race 3: BM88 Handicap 1400m

No confidence at all in the race. QUACKERJACK (2) goes well fresh, and loves it wet. If the rain comes as anticipated he could shorten up and be very hard to beat. GREYWORM (4) also loves it wet, he sat up outside the speed here last time 3 weeks ago and was run down late. YOU MAKE ME SMILE (5) will go forward, he gets the winkers on and has won a couple of times here at Randwick. AMANGIRI (11) was fair resuming after having every chance. She won her only other second-up run and is a heavy track winner by more than 5 lengths. Tough race.

Race 4: Stan Fox Stakes 3YO Set Weights 1500m

KOOWERUP (9) won her first two before going to the paddock, she resumed at the Valley against the girls and ran on well over the 6 furlongs. She then went to Caulfield at Listed grade and stuck on well after never being on the track. I think she will measure up against this lot.

BOTTEGA (1) is obviously above average winning both his races, he was backed as if there was no settling at Hawkesbury and was dominant. They were taking any price that day, just not sure he will run past the top pick in the straight if he maps that way. BRANDENBURG (3) produced some nice sectionals to win here at the track last time in an easier race, COCK MATCH (5) was second in that race and had a tougher run outside the speed.

Race 5: Roman Consul Stakes 3YO Set Weights 1200m

It looks a race in two on paper, but I am very confident that MICROPHONE (1) is the best of the day resuming. He was runner-up in the Slipper before winning the Sires at G1 level, then went to the paddock. He has been given a quiet trial but I think he will be just too classy for these fresh.

COSMIC FORCE (2) opened favourite but I expect that he won’t SP in that role. He was well backed when resuming but was very disappointing not to win after having the perfect run. The only way he will start fave in my opinion is if the rain really comes hard Friday and Saturday morning, that’s his best chance. STANDOUT (4) beat him home last start and is undefeated, TRUE DETECTIVE (5) next best. I think the one saddlecloth is a star in the making.

Race 6: Angst Stakes Mares Set Weights and Penalties 1600m

A typically open race for the mares over a mile, DYSLEXIC (4) gets the nod in a race that have little confidence in. She had a nice run a fortnight ago in the Golden Pendant and although she had every chance, this looks no harder and maps well again.

NOIRE (1) has hit the line well at her last couple when not really favoured by the pattern of the day, NETTOYER (2) comes back against the girls after producing some good late sectionals at the back end of the Epsom last week and is on the quick back-up. SO TAKEN (7) comes back to Sydney after never getting into the race last time south of the border.

Race 7: Spring Champion Stakes 3YO Set Weights 2000m

SHADOW HERO (2) could not have been more impressive winning the Gloaming, he was looking for a run at the top of the straight before angling clear and storming home and putting a gap on them. He looks suited out to the 2000m and has untapped potential.

JUST THINKIN’ (3) looks the leader, he had to sit parked in the lead-up but stuck on ok, it should be a different story if he is first over to the rails. CASTELVECCHIO (1) is a serious horse, he featured in the steward’s report in the Golden Rose after he didn’t fire, out on trip looks ideal. Go on his super fresh run against the pattern of the day. QUICK THINKER (4) rarely runs a bad race, he had every chance last time in the Gloaming, maps to get a similar run here but needs to improve to turn the tables. I can see him a big drifter and getting out near double figure odds.

Race 8: Silver Eagle 4YO Set Weights and Penalties 1300m

MIZZY (10) is flying this prep, he continues to step up in grade and get the job done winning all three this time in. This is harder again but I love that Tim Clark goes on, you know he will be charging forward looking for the top. See how the track is playing, I expect him to be well backed if it is favouring those on the speed.

THE INEVITABLE (3) looks the obvious threat, he was super fresh up the straight then made some quality horses look second rate at the Valley last time after sitting wide without cover, sustained a long run and absolutely bolted in. He is a real winner, the only concern it is his first go the Sydney way. BUFFALO RIVER (9) is speedy and is the other horse that will be assisted if the track is favouring those on the speed, SESAR (2) hasn’t really lived up to the hype this time in, the talent is certainly there.

Race 9: BM78 Handicap 1100m

POISED TO STRIKE (2) is first-up today with the winkers replacing the blinkers. He has a win and a placing from 2 previous fresh runs, has trialed well recently and handles the soft going well. He was pushed along in his most recent trial suggesting he is ready to go fresh.

TRAUMATISED (6) has the wide draw to contend with and is up in grade, but there was a lot to like about his win fresh. He showed great acceleration when asked and put a margin on them from the back, that’s not easy to do at Wyong. MISS INVINCIBLE (7) has good tactical speed, she is 5 weeks between runs after leading all the way here last time. She doesn’t have a good record on the rain affected tracks though. INVINCTUS SALUTE (8) needs to improve on her first-up record but goes well in the wet, she won in this class on a heavy track before going to the paddock.
