Randwick Racing Tips – Sat Sept 21
We will be at Randwick this Saturday.
Track: Heavy 9. Rail: True.
Best Bet: Race 5 – CASCADIAN
Race 1: Highway Class 3 Handicap 1000m
No confidence at all and happy to sit this one out. Not a part of either Quads, great for the country trainers but there are much better betting opportunities and spectacles than this today. If you must have a bet throw in GENERAL SCARLET (2) who is on the up and very speedy, FEEL THE KNIGHT (3) resuming and has bolted in at a recent trial,
CROWD SURFER (5) who was doing well late last time as a beaten favourite at Scone and IRISH SONGS (1) back to the Highways.
Race 2: BM78 Handicap 1400m
CUBA (4) is a last start Warwick Farm winner at 70 grade, that was following two straight placings at that track to start the prep. The win was all the way after drawing wide, again he draws out further than the middle and should e able to come across early. If he gets to the rail first, maybe another small bet in the run.
MASTER ASH (2) resumed in the same race as a few of these last time, he didn’t have much luck when held-up at a vital stage and hit the line ok.
MURILLO (1) gets the blinkers on for the first time, he was ok fresh but doesn’t map as well here. EXTREME BLISS (3) travels up the Hume bring ng some different form lines, a good win at Cranbourne two back and although well beaten last time, she never got into the race and had some good late sectionals.
Race 3: BM88 Handicap 1600m
JUNIPAL (11) has still not got out from its last run, at the Valley he was held-up from before the top of te straight to the 100m mark where he flashed late to miss in a blanket finish. HE really was the best of good things beaten. This looks a little harder but loves the heavy tracks and should be exploding through the line.
RE EDIT (14) is drawn the inside which may not be advantageous for her as she will get back, there was a lot to like about her run resuming on a day when the back markers were severely disadvantaged. MASTER OF WINE (15) resumed here a week ago and was also good form the back when it was better to be on the speed, he gets the blinkers off on the near side and will need to improve on his second-up record. DEALMAKER (7) draws horribly but should be fully fit here third-up.
Race 4: Tea Rose Stakes 3YO Fillies Set Weights 1400m
LIBERTINI (1) has won both starts back, her win fresh was very pleasing on the eye and although she struggled to get past Villami, she may have just been a little flat. This is certainly harder but there should be more speed in this and she can explode late. She is a star.
PROBABEEL (3) wasn’t suited the way the track was playing fresh, a little concerning that blood was detected on the face post-race, she has great finishing speed.
FLIT (4) produced some good sectionals from the back fresh in a race where she wasn’t suited, she may still want the mile but certainly is better suited here at 7 furlongs than she was at the 1200m last time. ANAHEED (2) looks the leader and will be helped if the track is on-pace biased again, she was beaten on her merits against the boys last time but was only 0.1 lengths behind Bivouac? Happy to be right against Funstar.
Race 5: Bill Ritchie Handicap 1400m
CASCADIAN (7) is an import that has had only one start in Australia a month ago, he was super from the back over an unsuitably shorter trip with the best last sectionals of the race. He hasn’t been seen in a month but has trialed brilliantly behind Classique Legend, he only has a light weight in the Epsom (but is well down in the order of entry) in 2 weeks, get on now as you won’t be getting the price after he brains them here!
KOLDING (5) had no luck here a fortnight ago when held-up along the rails whilst the winner and leader was off and gone. He is drawn wider here so he should be in clear running out wider today. AVANTAGE (3) is a Kiwi who was placed at her only Australian run behind Classique Legend, she loves the wet. DESERT LORD (12) can be forgiven for his last start, this is harder but he is undefeated in two second-up runs and the two wins before going to the paddock were breathtaking.
Race 6: The Shorts Set Weights and Penalties 1100m
Cracking race, but let’s be honest, with the GF next start, how many of these are going to be fully wound up to win this? CLASSIQUE LEGEND (6) is certainly stepping up in class and this may be his best opportunity to beat this lot, fresh and when the rest (and him) have their goal next start. HE has trialed well, his only defeat came on a heavy track but he was super after sitting very wide on the speed and not shirking the task. Up on the speed, he can take that next step.
SUNLIGHT (9) is 3/3 when racing second-up, plenty of good yard judges noted she had a lot of condition fresh, she should be flashing late. The tactics will be intriguing, so much was mad of the huge run of PIERATA (3) fresh, yeah he flashed home in a race where the pattern of the day was to be up on the speed, but I just think he needs everything to go right, in a field like this there are too many stars to be taking something at the top of the market with that pattern. REDZEL (2) was brilliant fresh but was assisted the way the track played, if he lands on the bunny again, he will be hard to run down and we know he loves it wet.
Race 7: George Main Stakes WFA 1600m
Going wide here, I really liked the run of ANGEL OF TRUTH (7) fresh, he was in the absolute no-go zone outside the leader on that windy day here two weeks ago. HE was well beaten but certainly the mile is not really here go fresh, onto the heavy track here second-up looks ideal, he won the Tulloch Stakes here on a bog track and won the Derby before going for a spell, hopefully from the good draw, ridden a little quieter, I can see him storming over the top in a big upset.
SAMADOUBT (4) has won back-to-back races in G1 and G2 races, he has been favoured by the way the tracks have been playing and the fact that the fields may have been focusing further down the road, but we can’t take those wins away from him. He will make his own luck up on the speed, hard to run down again especially if there is any bias in the track, and crosses Dreamforce early. VERRY ELLEEGANT (11) was poor resuming but is clearly better than that, AVILIUS (2) is all class but really needs to start winning again, he has been costly at his last two when the tracks were against him, sectionals were good last time but another that needs everything to go right.
Race 8: Kingston Town Stakes Set Weights and Penalties 2000m
COME PLAY WITH ME (11) was racking up win after win in WA, came east and was in Sydney after a 7-week break last time in the Premiers Cup. He sat up on the speed on the very heavy track and although well beaten, was brave late. Her will be fitter off that run after having the break and we have seen last week this WA form must be respected.
FINCHE (4) is heading towards the Cups, he had trialed really nicely prior to his first up failure. He has class, will have taken plenty from that run and is getting out closer in trip to something he will be competitive in. BIG DUKE (10) will find this tough first-up but handles the conditions well and will keep grinding, STAMPEDE (9) led them up in the Wyong Cup but was first beaten but looks better suited back on the heavy track.
Race 9: BM88 Handicap 1200m
YOU MAKE ME SMILE (2) led for a long wat Rosehill three weeks ago, she handles the wet ok and will give them something to catch if the track is playing int o the hands of the leaders.
Not a lot of confidence here. GREYWORM (7) beat the top pick home last start but doesn’t map nearly as well here from out wide, PRIME CANDIDATE (9) also has tactical speed and will go forward, he may be best suited to take a sit here though. ROHERYN (14) is lining up for start 3 this prep but has had his runs very well spaced, he will be giving them a start but is a winner at his only heavy track run. He also looks better suited coming back here to Rosehill.
