Morphettville (Sat)

Morphettville Racing Tips – Sat May 14th

We will be at Morphettville this Saturday.

Best Bet:  Race 7 no 13 SEABROOK

Race 3 no 8 WHITE KAPS

Actually fancied this Gordon Richards trained five year old gelding in a very similar race before he was scratched just last week. Admittedly capable of mixing his form however his best ratings have him as a genuine winning hope in this. Has had the two runs back since resuming and has had excuses on both occasions. In fact his last start run in a very similar race to this, he only found clear running the final 150m when still only beaten 1.8L. Drawn to enjoy all the favours sitting handy just off fast tempo and given clear running, as mentioned have no doubts he can be right in the finish at the absurdly huge opening odds of $26!! Obviously an open race but this price is simply crazy and just must be taken advantage of each way!

ODDS $26.0 @ Bet365.

Most promising young Anthony Freedman trained filly that gives every indication she will stay longer than the ‘mother in law’ and relish the 2500m. First two runs since coming over to South Australia were enormous making up a stack of ground late on each occasion whilst also certainly wasn’t on the receiving end of one of Dom Tourneurs best rides when simply given no chance two starts back. Given a confidence booster when beating just a moderate midweek line-up last start however still was plenty to like, again working home strongly against just a modest tempo. The engagement of Damien Thornton is the icing on the cake as he has won his only two race starts aboard this So You Think filly. More than happy with the opening $3.90!

ODDS $3.90 @ Sportsbet, TopSport, Palmerbet.

Race 7 no 13 SEABROOK

The best weighted horse all day! This 100 rated galloper or in other words the highest rated runner in the race somehow finds herself down on the minimum with just 53kg. To further elaborate this mare carried 59.5kg last start against Group Two Company yet drops a massive 6.5kg in this Group Three affair. All three runs this time in super honest placing on all three occasions….all against Black-type company. Wide draw no issues, has enough natural pace to work over and settle handy on what just appears an average tempo. Obviously so deserves to break through, especially considering its been over two years between drinks again, however still more than happy with the opening $5.

ODDS $5.0 @ Pointsbet.

Race 8 no 3 GYTRASH

Reckon this Gordon Richards trained sprinter must be putting his hoof up as being Australia’s most improved galloper. So much so, if he were to win on Saturday, surely he would make a strong case to winning a slot and being a realistic chance in the ‘Everest’ later in the year. Having already put away both Nature Strip and Sunlight brilliantly this campaign whilst also producing another two Group One placings this bloke quite clearly comes into this affair as a deserved favourite. Certainly appreciating having his runs spaced and again comes into this off a four week break since his breathtaking last start win. Have absolutely no concerns with his outside draw, in fact think he maps to enjoy every chance, sitting off what looks to be a frantic tempo, whilst also has the home ground advantage on most of his rivals here. Still don’t quite think the majority of punters actually realise how good this bloke is or are simply underestimating this ‘unfashionable’ Stable as his recent ratings suggest this bloke should be actually much shorter than the current $3.60. Danger Trekking ($7.50) whilst Lyre ($15) must be included in all exotics.

ODDS $3.60 @ Sportsbet.

Would be amiss of me not to mention this Mitchell Freedman trained filly that was absolutely enormous last start in Adelalaide. On a day where most leaders/on-pacers were finding a way to hold on and score, this filly stood out as one of the few to make good late ground, rattling off the days best final sectionals….clearly!! After being snagged well back from her wide draw settling a clear last, to finish under a length away behind two very in-form gallopers in Xilong and Garner really was an outstanding effort (Group Two company!!). Put the writing on the wall that she was a filly of promise with an impressive Listed win when last in work (just her first campaign), again when hitting the line hard late. Actually thought she wouldn’t have been out of place had connections rolled the dice and gave her a shot at the Group One Goodwood giving an even clearer picture to what we thought of the run. Drops back sharply to a 3yo handicap affair whilst rise to 1400m suggest presents ideally with Ben Melham jumping back aboard. You would like to think Stable are confident with the race they found because they nommed for three races all-up!!….loading up at the $6.50!!

ODDS $6.50 @ Bet365.
