Moonee Valley Racing Tips – Fri Feb 7th
We will be at Moonee Valley this Friday.
Track: Good 4. Rail: True
Best Bet: Race 2 – BORN A WARRIOR
Race 1: Maiden Plate Set Weights 1600m
PROPHECIES (8) has had six tries at breaking the duck, her two best runs have been the last two since resuming. She was wide without cover when resuming then attacked the line well last time at Werribee after having the cold sit. She maps to do the same here.
REBEL RACER (4) is lining up for start three, he placed on debut then ran on hard last time to narrowly miss the placings and is clearly looking for the mile.
ESCONDIDO (2) is yet to run a place at 4 career starts but looks to have come back a better horse, he stuck on well one-paced when resuming and also looks suited getting out to the mile. SWEET GOLD (6) is an import that has had one start in Oz, she over-raced back in the field and kept coming I the straight. She will have improved off that run.
Race 2: 3YO Maiden Plate Set Weights 1200m
BORN A WARRIOR (3) gets the blinkers off for the first time, he was tackling the best of his age group as a juvenile, placing in the Silver Slipper on debut and then second on a heavy track in the Pago Pago, albeit beaten a long way. He hasn’t been seen in almost a year so I would like to see some money for him.
CAMPESE (4) placed on debut at Benalla, he was forced to chase hard all the way and it was a good effort to be beaten the smallest possible margin. NORTH TREK (6) narrowly missed the placings at his first two starts, he has been gelded in his time off and is sure to have improved. Watch the betting with him. INTRIGUE (9) has placed at both of her starts, she was beaten at a very short quote when resuming and had no excuses after leading. The money was there for her so she must have been showing something.
Race 3: BM70 Handicap 2040m
GOOD IDEA (4) should be fully fit here third-up, he has run on well to narrowly miss the placings at both runs this prep. He has only had one start here but was caught wide off the track last time and hard to gauge how he handled it. Up to the 2040m he should be able to settle closer.
DONNDUBHAN (1) is a last start winner at Flemington after leading all the way. He is having his first go here but if he can land on the bunny he should be able to give a good kick. JACK REGAN (2) is an import that is yet to win since arriving in Australia, all three runs this campaign have been at Flemington and looks suited getting out past the 2000m. LORD OF DARKNESS (7) won an easier race three starts back then has placed at the last two. He ran on hard to get close last time at the Bool.
Race 4: BM64 Handicap 3000m
PATRIOTIC (11) took a while to find top gear at the Bool two starts back but when he did he really hit the line well. Last time at Sandown he was ok late but a little one-paced, hopefully can be just saved for one run here.
MANHATTAN GANGSTER (5) is a one paced grinder that was sent over the sticks last prep, he won a heavy track last start and you know he will run the trip. COUNT ZERO (4) is very consistent, he led all the way at Cranbourne three back over 2500 and was good after taking the sit last time in a harder race. Should take some running down around here. LONGCLAW (2) has been a little enigmatic this time in, he ran on hard in this grade two back when second and was only plain last start when outclassed. This is easier.
Race 5: BM78 Handicap 2500m
TATALINA (8) gets the winkers for the first tie, she won two in a row to start this prep and has been thereabouts in three starts since. Last time at Sandown she was held-up early in the straight before getting clear and running on hard to go under by less than a length.
PISSARO (4) doesn’t have a great record here at the track but did improve last time after making a long run from last. He was well backed that day and should tart near the top of the market again. VELLASPRIDE (5) is better than what he showed fresh, he isn’t a first-up horse. He had a win and four seconds form 6 starts last prep. SILENCE THE STARS (3) has been up for a long time but did have 5 weeks between runs, the latest he hit the line well from a mile back at Caulfield. He has placed her eat the track previously.
Race 6: 3YO Fillies BM64 Handicap 1000m
HINT OF MINT (1) won her first two starts and then was thrown in the deep end here at Listed level at career start three. Sent to the paddock following that run, she returns today without any official trials., Watch the betting for any support.
MARIAMIA (3) was sent to the paddock following a debut win, although she was beaten a long way last time forget she went around after the jock lost both irons early in the piece. PARIS (6) is first-up and has placed at two previous fresh runs. LA ZOLA (9) has been up for a while but will find this is easier than last start when she made some ground late into third.
Race 7: BM64 Handicap 955m
BURNING THE CLOCK (9) has been runner-up at three of the last four in SA, he is likely to be giving them a start but he swoopers can win these. He was a mile back last start before flying late getting into second in a race that has proven a good form reference.
DEPLOYS ALONE (10) was very plain last start, he was heavily backed to win one of these 955m races three starts back. FIGHT (4) is resuming and placed at his only other fresh run (on debut), he gets the blinkers again and maps to get the cold sit on the likely hot speed. LEITER (3) was good fresh in a harder race and had to make the running three-wide no cover. He placed at his only other second-up run.
Race 8: Fillies and Mares BM70 Handicap 2040m
MUSIC OF THE NIGHT (9) has the inside gate to deal with, it should ensure that she has to do no work in the run but may just need an ounce of luck when the runs come. She was brave in defeat two starts back when wide without cover throughout and then hit the line hard at her latest.
CLEAN ACHEEVA (2) doesn’t have a great record here at the track but is coming off a good win in this grade last time, also against the girls. She had to work early to eventually find the front, she should be pressing on early here also. PINA (8) gets the blinkers on for the first time, she looked a little plain last start but it was hard for the back markers to get into the race. QUEEN LEONORA (6) ran on hard to narrowly miss last start when second-up, jumps up to the 2040m and should be at peak fitness.
Race 9: BM64 Handicap 1600m
With the early scratching’s, BACCHUS (13) gets a start. Finally got his maiden win last start at Sandown and did so in impressive style at a very short quote. He got a mile back before making a long run, hit the lead at the furlong and kept going to put a gap in them. This is harder but he may have turned the corner now.
BILL THE BEE (1) won here two starts back then was easy in the betting last time and ran on ok along the rail in a harder race. TOUCH OF MINK (11) placed at her only start at the track, her three runs since coming back from Sydney have been ok. This is no harder. THINK WE’RE DUE (7) has the wide draw to overcome but will come in with all the scratchings, he is going to get back anyway. He was ok through the line second-up but did want to lay in down the straight.
Race 10: Fillies and Mares BM70 Handicap 1000m
Quaddies players should be marking the F for Field in this, the get-out stakes. It looks a tough one on paper, THINE IS THE POWER (6) has the very wide draw but has been very consistent this prep. THE COMMONER (9) has had 5 weeks between runs she was good winning from outside the speed last time and may have to assume that role again. RAINBOW GIRL (7) ran out of condition late when resuming, she was runner-up here at Listed level last prep and was a winner second-up last prep. EXQUISITE BEAUTY (10) won second-up then was good in defeat up the straight two starts back. Last start forget she went around after having no luck being held-up most of the straight.
