Moonee Valley Racing Tips -Fri Jan 24
We will be at Moonee Valley this Friday.
Track: Good 4. Rail: True.
Best Bet: Race 5 – HOW WOMANTIC
Race 1: BM78 Handicap 2500m
QUALITY SEEKER (3) won at Randwick two starts back, sat wide with cover last start and although he stuck on well, he had his chance. Hard to line the form up with him but if he reproduces his Hawkesbury win from earlier in the prep, he will be hard to beat. Watch the betting.
YULONG RISING (1) has been runner-up at both starts here at the track, last time he didn’t have much luck when held-up at a vital stage here and then was good to the line. MISS DAMITA (5) is having her first run here, she over-raced last start but stuck on well to narrowly miss the placings at Caulfield. She won back-to-back races earlier in the prep, not the worst. RELIABELLE (7) has been up for an eternity it seems, she rarely runs a bad race but she needs everything to go right as she will get back and run on hard.
Race 2: 2YO Maiden Plate 1000m
Too hard with only three of the twelve been seen at the races previously. BAAQYAH (7) has been runner-up at both starts, she has the experience her eat the track which is a big plus, especially with the babies. She was super here last time before going for a break when sitting wide throughout, she has trialed well recently also. STORM BORN (12) has the wide draw to deal with, she just looked to run out of condition up the straight at Flemington on debut. Watch for any money for those on debut, in particular QUEEN RYKER (11) and SPIRT OF GIVING (4)
Race 3: BM78 Handicap 1000m
MISTER MOGUL (11) won an easier race last start, he will find it harder here but the authority with which he won last time can’t be underestimated. He sat up outside the speed, took over on the turn and showed a nice turn-of-foot when asked to put them away. That looks his role again here.
WRITTEN CHOICE (4) had excuses here last time when well beaten, he was wide throughout without cover and featured in the steward’s report pulling up lame. I expect that he will go forward here and look for the top. I AM INCREDIBLE (3) has been up a while, he was a good winner across the border back in December then led and was pressured throughout last time but faded late. Hopefully he takes a sit here and can find the line well.
PARIANO (9) led all the way at Caulfield when resuming, draws well but with all the speed outside him he may be best served to take a sit.
Race 4: Fillies and Mares BM78 Handicap 955m
SEI STELLA (2) has some class, she didn’t fire last prep in much harder races. She was well in the betting at Listed level in Brisbane two back then was wide throughout on the heavy track in a much harder race before going to the paddock. Take her on trust.
WALTONIA (8) won an easier race at Echuca last time, she was beautifully ridden and was strong to the line, she has placed at her only run at the track. LADY SOLLY (5) led for a long way when resuming last time, she has a great record when second-up and should be on the speed again. RAVEN’S BLAZE (3) had every chance here last time, she loomed up to win but just found one better. Drawn out, expect her to be ridden positively.
Race 5: VOBIS Gold Carat Set Weights and Penalties 1200m
HOW WOMANTIC (8) is a star in the making and has been very good to us at her first two starts. We spotted her at the jump-outs and she hasn’t disappointed, her win at Geelong was super and then went to Caulfield and was beautifully ridden to bolt in. The only query is here at the Valley for the first time, I expect the big players to take her on late.
ROCKING EAGLE (2) is a winner here at the track two back which is a big plus, last time up the straight he wanted to run around a bit back towards the inside but was good through the line. He will be giving them a big start but will charge late. LUCIFER’S REWARD (1) is also a winner here at the track, he will find this more suitable than last to up the straight. MODEAR (7) has come back a different horse this prep winning both runs, she has charged home from a mile back at both of them.
Race 6: BM70 Handicap 1200m
BEAUTY (6) was a little plain when racing up the straight last time, she was good when resuming but failed that last start when well favoured. She is a winner here at the track at her only start, she gets a couple of minor gear changes here and expect her to be on the speed for a long way.
LEITER (7) was beaten as favourite after having more than 6 months on the sidelines, that was the first time he has missed a place at 4 career starts. He draws well and should be camped on the leaders ready to pounce.
If LICKO’PAINT (13) gets a start she comes right into calculations off a tough run last time when on the speed and wide, she was a winner here the start prior to that at her only look at the track. GOOD THERAPY (3) doesn’t map as well as last start but was good the start prior when running on hard to win here in an easier race.
Race 7: Australia Stakes WFA 1200m
BEGOOD TOYA MOTHER (4) has a great first-up record and has looked good at the jump-outs recently, handles all conditions and with his pattern of racing on the speed, will be making his own luck. He was a Group One winner at his latest run at Caulfield, the only question mark is it is the first go at the Valley. Look for him carving over from out wide early.
SCALES OF JUSTICE (2) is also resuming and has only missed a place once in 9 career fresh runs. He was a Group One winner in the Memsie in the Spring and not beaten far over a mile at Flemington at the latest. Draws well and should finish hard from mid-field. HEY DOC (1) is not officially first-up but has not raced since winning the Winterbottom in Perth back in late November. He has a terrific record here at the track, I am tipping they will be wanting to take him on though from the inside draw over 6 furlongs here at the Valley. MICROPHONE (9) resumes taking on the older horses at WFA, only had the one run last prep and has been given a very quiet trial. Would need to see some money for him.
Race 8: BM78 Handicap 1600m
TALENTI (6) loves racing here, he won back-to-back races here at the track in November when running on strongly. He was well back last time at Flemington, appeared to have every chance but did hit he line well when beaten as favourite. Drops in class here and will be storming late.
MANHATTAN ARCH (10) placed here at the track in an easier race three starts back, he then won at HQ but was only fair last time when over-racing behind the speed. He looks better suited here as if can get cover and run on out wide. CLASSIC WEIWEI (5) ran on hard at big odds when resuming last start, he is a winner second-up previously and looks to have come back well.
ALL HARD WOOD (8) was only fair when resuming, he looks ready for improvement though off that run and should find the line well if he settles in the sun.
