Race 5: BM100 HANDICAP 1100M
IT’SOURTIME (3) was a huge run last start when 2nd to EXTREME WARRIOR in the Listed Bel Esprit this track and trip when bounding at the start and running 4/5 wide the trip from the widest barrier. Drawn to stalk the speed here, only goes up half a kilo and looks the one to beat.
SOUND MACHINE (7) a mare from the USA that is having her first start here for the in-form Freedman camp who have engaged the services of premiership leading jockey Jye McNeil who has forgone stakes race rides interstate to focus on winning the premiership. This mare has run in some blisteringly fast races in the US so has to be respected here as does any market moves for her. RANTING (8) has been gelded now so will be interesting to see if he wants to be a racehorse and how he goes now. He has the talent but I’d want to see him perform before tipping him with any confidence. That said he is drawn well and the $18 on offer is tempting.
(3) IT’SOURTIME: $3.40 1 unit
Race 6: SUPER VOBIS 3YO HANDICAP 1200M
CLEMENCEAU (2) absolutely bolted in last start at this track and this fellow is just a winner having won his last 4 starts in easy fashion and in fast time. He should box seat here and just win again for team Hawkes and Jye McNeil.
SCISSOR STEP (1) was 2nd last start at this track behind MIDWEST in fast time and should now be at his peak. Gets in well with the claim and draws the rail. He looks the main danger to the favorite.
GIMMIE PAR (3) finished 3rd in the MIDWEST race and will lead this race for a long way. In the reliable hands of team Moody but I doubt this filly will be able to hold off the favorite.
(2) CLEMENCEAU: $2.25 1 unit
