Kensington Racing Tips -Tue Nov 5
We will be at Kensington this Tuesday.
Track: Good 4. Rail: True.
Best Bet: Race 3 – DIRTY WORK
Race 1: 3YO Maiden Handicap 1400m
SPACEBOY (1) has placed at 5 of his 6 starts, he has good tactical speed and looks the leader. He has had three weeks between runs but has trialed brilliantly since, drawn well with the visors on, he will take some catching.
STARLA (4) is also a 6-start maiden, she has been very costly for punters beaten at odds-on at both runs this prep. She has the talent but will be giving them a start and needs everything to go right. TWENTYFOUR CARAT (5) resumes with the blinkers off, he has trialed ok but needs to settle closer than what he was at his last prep. QUINTESSA (6) was beaten under a length with a gap to third at Warwick Farm last start, the Newnham stable is flying and is drawn well. Happy to take her on though if she starts at the top of the betting.
Race 2: BM70 Handicap 1800m
The two early scratching’s leaves just a field of 6, LEWIS (5) looks the leader and with not many runners, he may get a very soft time of it in front if he decides to kick through and hold them out. He has placed at his last three, he led and was run down here last time at the track and distance but there was a gap to third.
COSTAS (4) should have finished closer last start after he was held-up for a lot of the straight, he ran on well from further back the start prior here at the track. NAVY CROSS (6) is the other that will try and lead all the way ads he has done at his last two in easier races, just not sure that the top pick will want to hand-up? CONTINUATION (3) was to be ridden closer last time but can’t see them attacking with the speed drawn inside.
Race 3: 3YO Maiden Plate Set Weights 1100m
DIRTY WORK (3) drops a stack in grade for this, he was only beaten 2L by Cosmic Force last start after over-racing up on the speed. He will go forward from the wide draw, he is good enough to sit parked. Should be winning this.
HULK (6) has been very consistent placing at 6 of his 9 starts, he was ridden quieter last start and ran on well t place at Listed level. His time is not far away.
HYANNIS PORT (11) has trialed well enough for her debut, L’COSMO (13) next best. She has placed at 4 of 5 career runs but will be giving them a start, she needs everything to go right here fresh.
Race 4: Choisir Handicap 1100m
Just the five going around and any one of them wouldn’t surprise returning to the winner’s stall. GLENALL (1) has not won in a while but he looks to have come back well. He trialed at Rosehill last week, sat behind the leader before taking over at the furlong and cruised to win. The small field suits.
AGENT PIPPA (3) is a last start winner on the outer track here at Randwick, she looks the leader and may cop no pressure early. If she does get some cheap sectionals early, have a small bet in the run. SOUTHERN LAD (4) is first-up and has a good record when fresh, he just may find them a little nippy here? Any rain around wouldn’t hurt his chances. AYLMERTON (5) has only been racing fairly but gets the blinkers again and will be up outside the speed.
Race 5: BM70 Handicap 3200m
BREAKDANCE (1) looks the leader and like most of these, is having his first crack at the two miles. He will probably roll them along, his last start win at Warwick Farm was good and never looked like getting run down.
EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN (2) won two back then was well beaten behind the top pick last time. He is one-paced so will need the leader to run along. EUGENIA (4) bolted in last start at Kembla by more than 4 lengths, he has a bit of speed so probably wants it more slowly run. SO IT IS (6) has been consistent and was a winner over 2850m two starts back, he looks one that should have no problem with the trip.
Race 6: BM70 Handicap 1400m
JETSKI (10) was a solid maiden winner albeit by a small margin three starts back, he then went to Gosford and ran on hard form the back to score comfortably at his first go out of that grade. HE again got a mile back last start and ran on hard to be beaten a length, he will need everything to go right again.
STATUESQUELY (5) was racing well in Sydney last prep before going north and running into some heavy tracks, she had her chance when leading resuming and that looks her role again. She is also an emergency in the next race. VEDDER (7) comes through the same race as the top pick last time, I expect him to settle closer this time from the wide gate. ZOUOLOGIST (6) has been consistent, he was ok resuming but did have every chance.
Race 7: Fillies and Mares BM70 Handicap 1300m
It looks an open race on paper with a big field, scratching’s could be crucial. KEDAH (1) won two in a row early in the prep, was poor on the heavy track and has run on well at her last two. She will get back from the gate but the big field should ensure a solid tempo.
LOVED ONE (4) won second-up last prep as she is today, she had every chance resuming but was still coming through the line. STATUESQUELY (5) is also an acceptor for the previous race, she has good tactical speed and will look to lead if she runs here.
COMMUTE (6) will go forward from the draw, she was brave in defeat last start after having to sit parked three-wide no cover on the speed.
Race 8: BM72 Handicap 1550m
JAZZLAND (2) resumed with a win at Wyong two weeks ago, the connections had advised they were going to ride him more conservatively but he led and never looked like getting run down, winning by 2.5 lengths. He looks to have come back well, from the good gate I expect that they will be trying to go wire to wire again.
EUGENE’S PICK (7) had her chance in a much harder race last time, she was tucked in behind the leaders but didn’t attack the line in what has become a good form reference. I imagine there will be a change of tactics from the wide draw and she will go back, look for her late if the speed is on. ADANA (6) has the ability but he always needs everything to go right and probably needs a wet track. DARK PEARL (5) was ok resuming and will be better for the run, he may still want further and it has been a long time between drinks. HE is yet to win since coming to Australia.
Race 9: BM70 Handicap 1100m
MANSA MUSA (2) is resuming, he has been gelded since we last saw him at the races. HE won his first two starts then was only fair at three runs since. He has trialed well winning two in the last 3 weeks at Rosehill, he has speed and I expect him to be well backed. He could be one of the best of the day.
PHOENIX RIVER (13) is still a maiden but won’t be for long. He gets in very light with the claim and was a real eye-catcher from the back when resuming. ROMAN WOLF (8) is also resuming and has a perfect 2/2 record when fresh, he is likely to go forward but looks a great in-play lay if he has to face the breeze. NICCONI PONI (14) is well travelled of late she was only beaten 2 lengths at Listed level last time and should settle mid-field.
