Hawkesbury Racing Tips – Sat Apr 27
We will be at Hawkesbury this Saturday.
Track: Good 4. Rail: True.
Best Bet: Race 4 – MULTAJA
Race 1: BM78 Handicap 2100m
MAKDANIFE (9) looks the leader, he was beaten on his merits at Gosford last start but that winner has since come out and ran well in the city. If he gets left alone in front, he will be hard to run down in an open race.
BAJAN GOLD (7) and FREE FLY TOO (8) come through the same race with a similar SP, they both had their chance but can improve here. KING VIV (2) was also in that race and placed at big odds, he had every chance but looked to peak late and looks suited dropping back in trip slightly.
Race 2: BM78 Handicap 1500m
HARMATTAN (3) just missed at Gosford last time after running on well from well back, not easy to do at Gosford. They then tried to win it in the steward’s room and were unsuccessful there also! She maps to be closer here, maybe one or two pairs back and should be the fresh horse on the scene at the top of the straight.
BASTIA (4) comes through that same race and had no luck, he was caught up in behind the leader and never saw daylight. There was money for him that day and that looks the right form reference. CHALMERS (5) is very consistent but hasn’t won in a while, if he can get the back of the top pick and get a cart into it he will run on hard. SO YOU WIN (1) can be included in the minor placings but needs to improve on its first-up record.
Race 3: Clarendon Stakes 2YO Quality 1300m
They no doubt had this race in mind for CREATOR (4) when he came here last time to have a look around, he had no luck and was held-up most of the straight, forget he even went around. They throw the blinkers on him and expect him to be well backed. He was really solid at his debut run hitting the line hard, the 1300m looks ideal.
ERNO (1) has won both his starts, both leading throughout. This is a different beast here and a harder race, he will roll forward but the inside gate may not be great and leading all the way here is a different kettle of fish. He looks vulnerable. ANTONIO PADRE (7) looked to have every chance at Warwick Farm last time but maps well again, and JAILBREAK (8) has trialed well enough for his return and gets the blinkers on.
Race 4: Hawkesbury Crown Fillies and Mares Set Weights and Penalties 1300m
MULTAJA (6) has won two in a row, the Group Three she won last start has proven to be a good form reference, two horses have since won out of it and the horse that was runner-up was a tragedy beaten on the weekend. If the inside is not off and she gets even luck, she will finish too hard for them.
IRITHEA (3) had every chance resuming and has a solid second-up record, MANICURE (2) had been racing well prior to failing on the heavy track in the Coolmore last time, this looks easier. PECANS (1) gets the blinkers off resuming here, she flies fresh and as always with this stable, look for any positives in the betting.
Race 5: Highway Class 2 Handicap 1100m
Prepared to give LEGION OF BOOM (1) another chance after his first-up failure, he clearly didn’t handle the heavy going and is better than that. Second-up last prep he sat wide on the speed to win his maiden, the jockey change looks a positive one for his “city” debut.
MICK THE HAT (3) ventured down the highway for a harder version of tis race two starts back and was not on his best behaviour, attempting to buck and throw the rider early. He will go forward and give them something to catch. ZARDORO (8) is resuming, he has placed three from three when fresh and was a winner of a similar race before going for a spell. He has to carry more weight here obviously but he maps well.
BURNING CROWN (2) was beaten as favourite when he came to town three back for one of these Highway events, he had every chance that day after the perfect run in transit. He is back in trip and doesn’t map nearly as well here and looks a great lay.
Race 6: Hawkesbury Rush Quality 1100m
TACTICAL ADVANTAGE (1) is resuming, he won the Takeover Target at Gosford before going for a break and has trialed nicely for this. He flies fresh (4:2-1-1), the middle draw will mean that JMac will have some decision making early, that Takeover Target form line has proven good. Hard to beat.
SPENDING TO WIN (4) is also resuming, he was well beaten in the MM Sprint when last seen, he didn’t have much luck early in that race and also has a terrific record fresh. INTUITION (6) draws very wide, he will get back anyway so the draw shouldn’t matter too much. This is his biggest test going for three wins in a row. IN GOOD TIME (7) looked a superstar early in her career winning her first six races, she hasn’t won since but maybe the blinkers going back on her will spark something.
Race 7: Hawkesbury Guineas 3YO Set Weights and Penalties 1400m
KYLEASE (9) has been good to followers here and I see no need to jump off her here. She hasn’t been huge odds at her last three runs but this looks to be her grand final and Joe Pride should have her right on song. She draws perfectly in three, should be able to hunt through and lead all the way. She will find this harder than what she has been beating up on, if the track is favouring those on the speed, bet up.
RANIER (1) gets the blinkers back, he chased hard last start but had every chance at Randwick but just didn’t finish as well as the winner. He will be giving the top pick a fair start you would assume. MILITRAY ZONE (2) won the Gosford Guineas two starts back before going for a spell. He flew home when resuming and is a perfect 2/2 when second-up. He has to be included in everything. QUACKERJACK (3) will be up on the speed, he may have to sit outside the top pick and that will do him no favours unless they walk in front.
Race 8: Hawkesbury Cup Handicap 1600m
Lets go with the horse everyone has a soft spot for, TOM MELBOURNE (2). HE is drawn well in close and will go forward, he maps to get a perfect sit on the leaders. His recent form has been good, beaten out of sight by Winx (as they all do), Flemington three back he missed the kick and was never in it before a good placing at Rosehill on the heavy last time.
ARCHEDEMUS (11) was beaten favourite in the Provincial Champs final on the last day of the Championships, he had won five in a row prior and can step up to this grade with the light weight. ZOURKHAN (10) only comes into play if there is any rain around, NEW UNIVERSE (9) wasn’t suited the way the race was run last start and is better than that. Tough race.
Race 9: BM78 Handicap 1300m
ECHO JET (1) is flying, he has won his past couple when racing up on the speed without finding the rail. Stepping up in trip slightly today, he looks well drawn in the middle of the track to use his tactical speed and hopefully land on the bunny. If he does find the front, he will be hard to run down with one of the best in the business when it comes to rating on-pace horses Tim Clark riding.
Tough race and play wide in the Quaddie. WAGNER (2) ran on hard to narrowly miss at Gosford last time in a race no harder than this. DYNAMITED (3) is only lightly raced, he won on debut then was sent north for a couple of Queensland juvenile features last winter. He has trialed ok in readiness to take on the older horses here and obviously has the ability. GRIMOIRE (5) is racing consistently. He had no luck when wide throughout without cover at the mid-weeks 10 days ago.
