Flemington Racing Tips – Sat June 22

We will be at Flemington this Saturday.

Track: Soft 5. Rail: Out 9m entire circuit.

Best Bet: Race 4 – LAST WEEK

Race 1: Super VOBIS 2YO Handicap 1400m

BRAVE ENOUGH (4) was unwanted in the betting at his debut at Swan Hill, he was hampered at the start and settled well back before getting to the middle of the track and running on hard to win. He handled the soft track well and stepping up to the 7 furlongs here at the big track looks ideal.

ST EDWARD’S CROWN (2) was a winner here up the straight last time but has to step up from the 1100m to the 1400m. THE ASTROLOGIST (1) is horribly drawn out wide, he will want to lead but it is only a short run to the first turn before the long sweeping bend. He has won two in a row but can’t do too much work early. ORIENZEL (6) looks like he still has some things to learn but ran on well to win on debut. Look for him late.

Race 2: Mares BM90 Handicap 1400m

FLYING KRUPT (2) has been consistent this time and gets the huge jockey change with Willow going on replacing Kayla Crowther. She appeared to have every chance here last time, forget she went around prior to that in Adelaide at Group level after having no luck in the straight.

MAMZELLE TESS (1) gets the good weight relief from the claim, she has been competitive in harder races than this. She is likely to get further back from the draw. ANGELIC SPIRIT (3) looks the leader, Baster replaces Zahra and if she gets it soft in front she will be hard to run down. ICE GIRL (5) has been up for an eternity, she ran on well after a soft run last time and maps to be in a similar position here.

Race 3: Handicap 1100m

The first of the straight races of the day and expect them to be coming a little closer to the inside with the rail out. MILWAUKEE (2) was narrowly beaten in the Straight Six last time, he maps to be in a similar position here and will appreciate the class drop. He does step up in the weights but gets the good claim.

SINGLE BULLET (6) has placed at all three fresh runs as he is today, he is likely to be giving them a start and will be coming down the outside of the track. BEL SONIC (7) was successful in a hit-and-run mission to SA last time, he had run on well in the same race as the top pick prior to that. SHE KNOWS (8) is an interesting runner that travels down the Hume, she handles the wet well and the concussion plates come off which is always a positive.

Race 4: Handicap 2520m

There are a couple of differing form lines to match up here and the race here a fortnight ago where LAST WEEK (6) was beaten as favourite looks the superior of them. He was heavily supported throughout betting, held-up at two different times in the straight and hit the line well when finally out.

CHOUXTING THE MOB (3) was the winner of that race, he got to the middle of the track and charged clear when the favourite was being held-up for runs. He only has to carry a half kilo more here. OBSERVATIONAL (5) is enigmatic, he ran on well into third in that same race and is a winner here at the trip previously. PACODALI (1) loomed up to win last week at Sandown but just wouldn’t go past the leader. He is racing so consistently and will be running on hard.

Race 5: BM78 Handicap 1200m

STREET TOUGH (12) comes across from Tasmania and has not missed a place in his 8 career starts. He resumed at Launceston a month ago, wasn’t the best away but improved wide without cover before running away in what was a brilliant performance fresh. This is his toughest test and he can be ordinary away from the gates, but he is certainly talented enough.

EURACK (8) was really good here a month ago and was strong through the line, she will get back and run on hard. LAURE ME IN (3) is resuming and has a good record fresh, he will be giving them a start and may want further, but if they go crazy early he will be the one finishing best. GALAXY RAIDER (1) will also get back and charge home, a little worrying that he is 0/12 here at the track but this is easier than what he has been racing in the last year.

Race 6: David Bourke Provincial Plate BM90 1600m

FIVE KINGDOM (4) ran on well here last time when resuming, he has only had one other second-up run where he placed and looks suited up to the mile. He gets in with no weight with the claim and should finish hard.

CONNERY (5) is racing well this prep, he won at The Bool fresh, went to Sandown and ran on hard to win at 84-grade. He ran on hard in the Swan Hill Cup last time and that form line has proved to be a solid one. SACRED THEME (6) also comes through the Cup at Swan Hill, he ran on hard but has been up for a very long time and may need a break soon. CURRAGH (2) placed in that Cup also and ran on from the back, there wasn’t much between those three and the jockey decisions here may be the difference.

Race 7: A.R. Creswick Stakes 3YO Set Weights and Penalties 1200m

BAM’S ON FIRE (4) is going through the grades nicely this prep, she bolted in at maiden level fresh before two good wins at Caulfield against the 3YO girls. She is having her first go up the straight which is a little concerning, she showed the talent in WA and has really stepped up since coming east.

HALVORSEN (2) is drawn out wide, see how the track is playing in the earlier straight races to see if that is advantageous. He travelled well here last time before running to the front, he was swamped late. That’s how she needs to be ridden, just saved for one late run. GYTRASH (1) is a real winner, he was doing best late against a few of these last time, Willow goes on and gets in well enough with the conditions. ADVANCING (7) comes through that same form line and was good through the line, stepping up to the six furlongs looks a plus.

Race 8: Super VOBIS 3YO Handicap 1600m

HEAVENLY EMPEROR (4) beat home SURE KNEE (2) last time here at the track, that looks the form line to follow here. They will both get back in the run and charge home, the latter was heavenly backed as favorite but pulled up lame. Heavenly Emperor ran on well to win, the tactics will be interesting as to which one gets moving first. There looks a lot of speed on paper so the run on horses should be in the finish. JENKINS (8) is drawn out but will get back anyway, I doubt whether he can run past the top two though in the straight. FALLS (12) was a brilliant last start maiden winner on the heavy track, he will probably try to lead all the way but this is a big class rise. Tough race.

Race 9: Handicap 1400m

REYKJAVIK (8) is an interesting runner, the former WA galloper has had one run in Vic in the feature at Swan Hill last week where he ran on hard and was a real eye-catcher. This looks no harder and with the 3 kilo claim he gets in well. He doesn’t have a good record second-up but now with the new yard, he looks to have a future here in Vic.

BLAZEJOWSKI (6) has won at all three runs this prep including last start here at the track, he was really strong through the line and will be the one closing hard late. He looks a good risk though getting up in the weights with the big field to navigate. FEDERAL (4) has the inside draw and should get a soft run, he ran home hard behind Blazejowski last time but may need a little luck getting the run late. CALL ME HANDSOME (3) gets the blinkers on for the first time, he will roll forward and try to lead but needs to get there cheaply. It is not a long run to the first turn.
