Best Bet: Race 8 – FATUMA.

===

Race 1: Maiden Plate Set Weights 1100m

THINK ABOUT ME (2) is on debut for the Corstens team, he is a 4YO on debut that hasn’t been seen at the official trials. She had a jump-out at Geelong a few weeks ago, she wasn’t well away but showed an abundance of natural speed to lead throughout. She didn’t appear to have the blinkers on in that trial, she wears them here and that may help to get her away cleanly.

Dangers:

MUGATO (6) is also a first-starter that was at the jump-outs that same day at Geelong, he was very poorly away but picked up quickly and was very wide, joined in under a hold and looked really nice. If he jumps with them, he may be the one. Stick with them two. THE LAST NAPOLEAN (1) over-raced n debut and was poor, sent straight to the paddock he resumed at Ballarat and ran on hard to narrowly miss. He looks to have come back well, but may be giving the top pick a big start. GOROKAN EXPRESS (3) is consistent but has had enough chances

Race 2: 3YO Maiden Plate Set Weights 1500m

DONE GOOD (2) debuted here a fortnight ago over 1235m, he wasn’t well away and was hampered, settled back in the field but was good enough through the line. He just found them too fast when the y quickened and looks suited over the longer trip in a weak maiden.

Dangers:

INFALLYBELLE (5) gets the blinkers on for the first time, she is yet to place at three starts but has shown ability and hopefully can settle closer. PART TIME LOVER (6) showed improvement at Sale last time when up on the speed, that has proven a good form reference but her SP profile doesn’t read great. REWARDING RUBY (7) is yet to place but has been running on ok.

Race 3: Maiden Plate Set Weights 1400m

Another maiden that doesn’t have a lot of depth, EL VINCITORE (7) was a little one paced on debut over this trip, he took a while to get wound up but was ok through the line. There are no stars here and with natural improvement, he can make it win number one.

Dangers:

No confidence in the race at all. T’WAS ONE MORNING (8) was never in it resuming and again slowly away last time before making some ground, she needs to begin better. COBRA (5) is yet to place in five trips to the races, he hasn’t been far away at his last few and must be respected from this stable and takes the blinkers off. PIRELLI (3) has had enough chances, he was left flat-footed last start when the quickened but came again late.

Race 4: Maiden Plate Set Weights 1700m

DUNMAM (4) was unwanted in the betting when a very easy favourite resuming, he rattled home from a mile back and the extra distance looks to suit. He placed at his only other second-up run and looks one of only a few chances.

Dangers:

HIGH DONE (5) was really good resuming when only beaten a length in a grouped finish, he will get back but with a few gear changes, look for him hitting the line hard again. The interesting runner is CENSORED (3) on debut for the Tony McEvoy stable. It is a tough ask to go straight to the mile at start one but he looks ready to go, watch for any money for him. LORD HARRY (2) is deep into his first prep now at start number five, he has placed at his last couple and maps well again up on the speed.

Race 5: Class 1 Handicap 1200m

Small field where any of the six could win. HAPPY STREET (3) won at the Bool on debut recently, she wasn’t the best away but found a nice trail and ran on well, getting the upper hand late and was strong through the line.

Dangers:

LUCK FAVOURS (5) is resuming with the blinkers off, she was a soft winner on debut before doing nothing in a harder race at her first go out of maiden grade. This is easier. MAID EQUAL (6) is also resuming off a 32-week break, she has trialed really well and I expect there to be money for her. She has to be included in everything. ILLUMINAIRE (2) will be well found but although she will find this easier, she has had her chances since resuming. She may have to sit outside the leader here.

Race 6: BM64 Handicap 2400m

MY SHU MAI (11) has been up for a while but has been given a month between runs here. She was really good in a harder race against her own sex last time, look for her late.

Dangers:

AYERS ROCK (3) was well beaten in a harder assignment at the Valley last time, it has proven a good form reference with two winners already out of that race. JUST A JOKE (9) is an interesting runner resuming, he did very little at his last two campaigns, was sent to the paddock and has trialed well for this. He may have come back a new horse and the Waterhouse/Bott team must be respected. GOLDEN FALG (2) comes back from the jumps where he failed to finish last time, he was going well on the flat prior to that.

Race 7: BM64 Handicap 2400m

THE HUN (3) had to make a long-sustained run here last time in a similar race, he improved four-deep before the turn and although he was entitled to win, he got close and never gave up the fight. Out in trip to the 2400m, a distance he won his maiden at last prep, he looks to have more upside than these.

Dangers:

RUE DE RENNES (4) won an easier race on that same day here last time, she was perfectly ridden that day and although this is harder, she maps well again. PRINCES ANACHEEVA (7) won a highweight race last start, she will keep grinding away in the straight and MADAM STOWELL (9) is next best, she doesn’t win out of turn but she maps to get a soft, rails run and is consistent.

Race 8: BM64 Handicap 1400m

FATUMA (7) is only a lightly raced 4YO having start four, she resumed at Echuca as an easing  favourite, jumped awkward before settling worse than mid-field. She ran on hard and was a little wayward, she looks to have come back well and will appreciate the extra furlong.

Dangers:

SHE’S SENSATIONAL (6) will have admirer’s after winning a similar race last time, she was really good there, she burst through late after being held-up and was strong through the line. Michael Walker looks a positive jockey change. She looks the only danger. LEILA’S STAR (8) has versatility and although she has been p for a long time, she is still racing consistently. STRYKING MISS (11) ran on well last time but that was a big improvement, happy to risk her.

Race 9: BM70 Handicap 1100m

PETRELLE (2) will be the shortest price runner of the day, and deservedly so. She has been to the races four times, won both runs fresh and was placed at Listed level two starts back. She trialed brilliantly recently at a Camperdown jump-out, she will be sending most punters home happy!

Dangers:

None. She should just jump run and win with no excuses drawn out wider. WIND FORCE (1) is an experienced campaigner that was ok up the straight in a harder race at Flemington last time, SWEET SNITTY (4) is drawn poorly but has been racing well and probably goes forward early. ILLUMICON (6) is resuming, watch the betting with him but for minor placings only.
