Greyhound Tips – What you need to know
Greyhound racing betting is a getting bigger every year! You can bet Fixed Odds, or using Tote derivates or whatever works.
Some of the major greyhound racing venues in Australia include:
NSW – Wentworth Park and Dapto (everyone knows about the “Dapto Dogs”)!
VIC – Sandown Park and The Meadows are Melbourne’s two main tracks.
SA – Angle Park in Adelaide
Queensland – Albion Park where they also run the Harness races.
Small Betting Pool
An important thing to remember when considering greyhound racing tips is that the betting pool is significantly smaller than horse racing, with races containing a maximum of eight dogs. This means win bets might often be particularly short odds and quite volatile as more money comes into the small pools. Successful greyhound racing bettors may consider some exotic bets like Trifectas, First 4s, Quaddies and BIG6.
Form and Results
Box draw, Box speed, recent form from the box and track, the class of opposition etc will all determine what price each runner is. Some of these prices are just plain wrong! Look for these mis-priced runners and hopefully you’ve found the value in the race.
Condition and Weather
Weather has a bearing on all outdoor sporting events including Greyhounds. But, the consensus is that it should be less of a bearing on a greyhound race than in the gallops.
