Caulfield Racing Tips – Wed Dec 18
We will be at Caulfield this Wed.
Track: Good 4. Rail: Out 14m entire circuit.
Best Bet: Race 7 – MR STYLISH
Race 1: Maiden Plate Set Weights 1200m
MEDIATED (4) was very heavily backed to win at his debut at Mornington. He SP’d under $3 at most outlets and sat up outside the speed. He chased hard but found one better, the inside draw and up on the pace could be huge advantages here with the rail s far out.
LITTLE STEVIE (8) has placed at all five of his career runs, he is drawn well and also should be making his own luck up on the speed. MASKED CRUSADER (3) is an interesting runner form the Hawkes yard, he was well supported at his debut in NSW, got a mile out of his ground before hitting the line well.
PRIVATE UNIVERSE (1) showed more speed to lead at the Valley last time, interestingly he gets his sixth rider in as many starts. Respect any money for the Corstens trained first starter also.
Race 2: 3YO Maiden Plate Set Weights 1440m
Tough race with so many of these lightly raced and will have plenty of improvement off their last runs. BUSBY (3) has been good at both runs since resuming, he will go forward and make his own luck up on the speed. Oliver sticks with the ride. NONCONFORMIST (5) looks like he had plenty of learn at his debut but the ability was certainly there. He got well back and wide before running on well in the straight, albeit very greenly.
COIN COLLECTOR (4) was ok on debut, he ran through the line well and will appreciate the rise in trip. MILEYTUDE (9) was well backed when resuming off the back of a nice trial, she over-raced and was held-up in the straight, joined in at the furlong and was beaten in a blanket finish.
Race 3: BM64 Handicap 1440m
WHAM (2) was first-up when resuming at Sandown on the Hillside track last time, he ran on well but did have every chance. He will appreciate the extra trip here, he wasn’t far away in a $300K race last prep.
HIGH EXCALABRATION (12) is yet to win out of maiden grade but that isn’t far away. She resumed at the Valley and was super in defeat, settling worse than mid-field she was held-up from the turn to the furlong before attacking the line nicely. SCORPIOS SUNSET (11) was another that didn’t have much luck when resuming when savaging the line, she is a winner second-up previously. MISS SKEPTICAL (4) showed her tactical speed when winning from up on the pace two back, she was further back at the Valley last time and had no luck, going to the line untested.
Race 4: BM64 Handicap 1000m
REMASTERED (4) only missed a place once at his first prep, that was in a harder rrace before going to the paddock at Sandown. He has good enough tactical speed to be up with them early and has been good at the jump-outs, I would like to see some money for him.
PARIANO (9) gets the blinkers off for the first time, she is two for two when resuming as she is today. She won a trial easily recently with a gap job to third, she will be trying to lead all the way. MONTENEGRO MAN (7) is very consistent but yet to win out of maiden grade, his first-up record is good and Craig Williams retains the ride. BOLD ARIAL (6) has been off the scene a long time, her last two runs were at Listed level so she will find this easier but does have to improve on her fresh record.
Race 5: 3YO Fillies BM64 Handicap 1600m
FEIGN (8) won her maiden when resuming at Sale three starts back, her two runs since have been good when attacking the line. She gets out to the mile here for the first time and it looks right up her alley, look for her late.
OCEAN HEART (2) also bolted in to win her maiden two starts back, she has led at her two starts out of that grade and been run down. See how the track is playing, that looks to be her role again. BLOSSOM ON SNOW (1) is a last start maiden winner at Wangaratta by a big margin after sitting on the speed. She was impressive and this is harder but there was a lot of money for her that day. RAPID ROMANCE (4) was backed as if there was no settling when winning her maiden last start, she had a good run in transit and won with authority in a race that has already produced another winner.
Race 6: BM64 Handicap 1600m
SADENTE (11) has run on well at two starts since resuming from the paddock, she looks to be crying out for the mile. She has the wide draw but will get back anyway, the speed looks good on paper so she should be able to run over the top late.
JUST LIKE MUM (5) has placed at all three runs this campaign, she will be making her own luck up on the speed and what an enormous jockey change, Nathan Punch to Craig Williams. ACCREIDTATION (2) comes into play if there is any sting out of the ground, TOUCH OF MINK (7) is consistent, she has had her runs spaced of late but should get an economical run off the inside draw.
Race 7: BM64 Handicap 1800m
MR STYLISH (7) got out to the mile for the first time at career start number three, after sitting back in the pack he exploded to the front and went on to win by 7 lengths. He obviously has to jump out of maiden grade but wow was that impressive.
SLEEPLESS (8) is also a last start maiden winner although not by as big a margin, he did however go to the line under a hold and looks to be wanting the extra trip.
NAOMI (9) sat back last against the girls last start before improving deep on the turn and running away to win an easier race. There was good money for her late, Jack Martin retains the ride. IOWA HAWKEYE (5) is very consistent but I am not sure where he will get to in the run, he led all the way to win his maiden three back but has settled mid-field and placed at two runs since.
Race 8: Fillies and Mares BM70 Handicap 1440m
OREGON DREAMER (1) was beautifully ridden to win at Pakenham in a similar race to this when resuming, she looked like she was going to find the 6 furlongs too short but was strong through the line. She gets a good claim.
AMBITIOUS GEM (6) placed at Moe two back after doing all the work trapped wide without cover, she comes through a good form reference last time at Sandown where she chased hard along the inside. ULTRA SMART (10) doesn’t win out of turn but will be up on the speed for a long way, she must be included in everything if the track is playing favourably to the leaders. PARLAY PRINCESS (11) finally cracked it at maiden level when resuming last start. This is her first go her eat Caulfield but gets in very light.
