Caulfield Racing Tips – Sat June 29

We will be at Caulfield this Saturday.

Track: Soft 6. Rail: True.

Best Bet: Race 1 – SIZZLEFLY

===

Race 1: Super VOBIS 2YO Handicap 1200m

SIZZLEFLY (3) bolted in by more than 8 lengths on debut and was sent straight to the paddock. She then resumed at Mornington on a heavy track, sat mid-field before improving deep and running on well for a comfortable win. This is obviously harder but she handles the conditions and looks to have a future.

Dangers:

KING OF HASTINGS (2) won on debut then was run down when trying to lead all the way last time. He will have the tactical advantage but will need to get the cheap lead. CHAMPAGNE BOOM (1) was ok in the Magic Millions last prep, pulled up lame resuming up the straight but was ok. She will get home well if the speed is on. MAJOR (9) is on debut for the Hawkes yard, a son of So You Think, watch the betting with him and the others having their first start.

Race 2: BM78 Handicap 1600m

SHROUDED IN MIST (10) has tactical speed, she had been trying her luck on the speed earlier this prep but was ridden quietly last time and ran on hard to win. The tempo may have been against her as well, it was some win. Expect that she will be ridden the same way here from the wide draw and Willow keeps the ride.

Dangers:

BALLET MASTER (9) ran on hard to place last time in a similar race, he looks suited by the wet conditions. FIVE KINGDOM (2) will find this easier than last time at Flemington, he was well abck and made good ground to narrowly miss running a place. He improved the further he got into his first prep and should be fully fit now. BAG RAIDER (4) won his first Australian start two back after coming from Europe, he was flat last time but expect him to be better here.

Race 3: Super VOBIS 3YO Handicap 1400m

MORRISSY (1) was perfectly ridden in behind the leader when a dominant victor last time, he maps to get a similar run here. That was on a soft 7 track so he should handle this track, with the rail back to the true position it may be advantageous back on the rail.

Dangers:

FABRIC (5) is a last start winner against the girls and also had a similar run when camped in behind the leader, she was strong through the line but may have to swing wide here. PERSUADER (2) drops in class and will try and lead all the way here back in this grade, YULONG JANE (7) was good in the conditions last time and will be making his own luck up on the speed.

Race 4: 3YO Fillies Handicap 1100m

PARIANO (6) has placed at all four runs, she had the perfect run in transit at Caufield, ran up and hit the lead inside the furlong before being headed inside the 100m. She stuck on well enough, she may have just been a little flat second-up and should be fully fit now. She should carve across early and sit outside the lead and control the tempo from there.

Dangers:

SWEET JAZZ (11) had no luck last start when held-up at a vital stage, she was favourite that day when resuming and made good ground late. She looks to have come back well. NEWS GIRL (2) is resuming and maps well, she has a win and a second from two previous fresh runs. She wasn’t far away at Group Level last time n work. TELL ME (1) has the inside draw to match the saddlecloth number, her runs have been well spaced this time in and she didn’t have much luck last start in Sydney.

Race 5: BM84 Handicap 1200m

TORPENHOW (7) is resuming, his preps have only been short having had 6 fresh runs in just a 16-start career. Last campaign he was a brilliant winner resuming, sat back last at Canterbury before pulling the widest still 5 off the lead and mowed them down to win comfortably. Interesting m,ove bring ing him south for the first time.

Dangers:

I LIKE TO THINK SO (6) was good at Swan Hill over the carnival, he tried to lead all the way but was gunned down late. See how the track is playing early on, he looks a great each0way bet if the on-pacers are favoured. HIGHLAND BEAT (4) is a last start winner in the very heavy conditions, he ran on hard from the back and he wouldn’t want any improvement in the track. A little worrying that he is 0/18 here at Caulfield so happy to tackle him on, especially if it dries up. BARTHELONA (3) is resuming and has a good record fresh, he is speedy but may have to sit parked here. Not sure he can do that and win in this class.

Race 6: Super VOBIS 3YO Handicap 2000m

DOGMATIC (1) won two in a row this prep to kick things off including a similar race here at the track where he was dominant after a perfect ride. He looked to have every chance last time at Sandown but may have just peaked on his run, he looks suited coming back in trip to the 2000m.

Dangers:

TYSONIC (2) looks the obvious danger as he beat the top pick home last time, they have been the first two across the line at their last couple. Dogmatic will have the tactical advantage and Tysonic will be the one running through the line well from the back. PREDECESSOR (3) comes through the same race and stuck on ok after hitting the lead but the tough run told late. DESPACITO (4) gets the in-form apprentice Theo Nugent on to steer, she will also be giving them a start but has been good at all three runs this prep.

Race 7: Handicap 1800m

DR DRILL (8) could not have been more impressive at Flemington last start, he crossed to lead, railed hard into the straight and ran away for a dominant win and the jock was able to sit up late. The margin was 2.75L with another 3.25 to third, this is harder but he gets in with no weight and I love Nugent going on and claiming three. He looks a one out job for the Quaddie.

Dangers:

ONE MORE TRY (7) had every chance behind him last time after having the perfect sit, Williams goes on but hard to see her turning the tables. GUIZOT (2) has been consistent this prep but will be giving them a start and worried that they may walk up front. Forget CARZOFF (1) went around last start, he was held-up on a couple of occasions in the straight.

Race 8: Fillies and Mares BM90 Handicap 1200m

EURACK (5) was first-up at Flemington last time up the straight, she was only getting warmed up late and was doing her best work through the line. There have been two subsequent winners out of that race, has won second-up and is a winner here at the track. Look for her late.

Dangers:

NARIKO (6) loves the sting out of the ground, she was good in an easier race last time but maps beautifully and will appreciate the give in the track. FREEHEARTED (8) had no luck on a couple of occasions in the run home when she resumed at Randwick last start, she maps to get a better run here all things considered. FRAGONARD (2) has placed at both runs in NSW this time in, just worried about the draw as she likes to race on the speed and may be posted. She has won on a heavy track though which is a plus.

Race 9: BM84 Handicap 1400m

INTO RIO (10) was so impressive winning an easier race when resuming, he sat well back before easing very wide and producing a finishing burst that was mouth-watering. Admittedly it was a much easier task but he drops a stack in weight ere and Willow goes on, look for him late.

Dangers:

ANGELIC SPIRIT (7) comes back against the boys here after trying to lead through out last time up in grade against her own sex. She will give a sight here, if the track is favouring those up front, don’t have her as a loser in your ledger! ELITE DRAKE (6) will also be up on the speed but may be best suited taking a sit up in grade. STREET SHEIK (4) gets the soft run off the inside but will need luck to navigate through the field. I expect him to be very easy in the betting off the inside draw, so if you do like him, wait until near jump time.
