Canterbury Racing Tips – Wed Sept 11
We will be at Canterbury this Wednesday.
Track: Good4. Rail: True.
Best Bet: Race 4 – KYLEASE
Race 1: Maiden 1550m
PARCHE (8) debuted here a fortnight ago over 1300m, she was well back in the run and on the paint and was held-up early in the straight when the runs came. She only got out late and was beaten less than 2 lengths, the extra trip looks to suit and with even luck, should be finishing best.
BUNGALOW BILL (5) comes through the same form line, he had a softer run in transit closer to the speed but also didn’t have much luck. He looks to have plenty of improvement in him. COLADA (6) has placed at two of three this prep, he over-raced badly back in the field last time before hitting the line well. He goes from having Rawiller on to Dolan which looks a huge negative, expect him to be a big drifter. WAY BACK WHEN (4) hasn’t been suited the way his first two races have been run, he has been off the scene for a month but freshened up with a trial in between.
Race 2: Fillies and Mares Handicap 1200m
DANCE HALL GIRL (2) led all the way to win a similar race at Warwick Farm two weeks ago, she does have to go up in the weights by 2.5kg off that win, but if the lead is there, she should get some cheap sectionals with the small field. Hard to run down again.
MISS SCORCHER (1) is drawn wider and also a last start winner up on the speed, tactics early will be interesting. SAKURA (4) is resuming for the Godolphin stable, she showed plenty of ability when first in work and will be the one to benefit if the speed is on as she will get back early.
DUNROBY POWER (5) is very consistent, she will also be giving them a start but the small field means she won’t be too far off the lead early. JMac goes on.
Race 3: 3YO Maiden Handicap 1250m
ASTRALIS (10) debuted in a much harder maiden in town 5 weeks ago, was solid in the market around the $7 mark on a heavy track. She was just gaining momentum near the furlong pole when she was checked and it will pay to forgive that run.
PAPAL WARRIOR (1) is an interesting runner that has been transferred from the Snowden yard to Waller. He showed tactical speed at his two starts last prep and is a recent trial winner. Watch the betting with him, although it can be hard to get a feel with this stable. COCK MATCH (3) got out to the 1400m last prep, he is resuming today and has been gelded in the time off. He should be up on the speed for a long way. Watch for any money for those on debut, in particular GOOD STOCK (4) who was a recent trial winner for the Waterhouse/Bott yard.
Race 4: BM74 Handicap 1100m
KYLEASE (6) is resuming, she won three of five at her first prep and looks to be going places. She has good tactical speed and even though the 1100m may not be idea, she should be able to lead all the way or control it from outside the speed. She was brilliant in a recent trial win at Warwick Farm.
None if she has come back as well as she was when she left for the paddock. VEDDER (10) is also resuming, he was pushed right out in a recent trial and the blinkers go on. He maps well and should have the back of the favourite early in the run. ROOSEVELT (5) was poor on the heavy track last time, he showed more speed here at the track the start prior when resuming.
NOVEMBER MAN (4) doesn’t win out of turn but he is very consistent, he ran on hard last time when resuming in what has proven a very good form race.
Race 5: BM74 Handicap 1250m
QUADRIGA (5) was a winner last prep when resuming which was also here at the track. He has been away for almost 6 months and was given a very quiet trial recently when not beaten far. He doesn’t have a great SP profile and prefer him here early in his prep.
ERNO (7) will start favourite after a nice return to the racetrack at Warwick Farm a fortnight ago. He sat outside the leader and was brave in defeat, he has not finished further back than second in four career starts. SEDITION (10) comes through the same race as Erno and produced the best closing sectionals after a soft run in behind the leader. LILITH (3) ran on hard to win at Newcastle last time, she hadn’t been showing much this prep prior to that but may have turned the corner with the change of tactics being ridden further back.
Race 6: BM70 Handicap 1900m
ACHONDRITE (8) won her maiden before going to the paddock, she has had two runs back and placed at both, last start they raced her closer and led most of the way before being run down late. She looks better suited here at the smaller track.
PERFECT RHYME (9) has been in VIC at her last couple of starts, she will also be up on the speed and this looks easier than last time at the Valley. LE LUDE (11) is yet to win out of maiden grade but is very consistent, not sure where she will get to from the wide draw but should hit the line hard. FAST TRAIN (6) is a last start winner at Hawkesbury, he is very consistent but rises in grade here. He should be mid-field in the run and hitting the line hard.
Race 7: BM70 Handicap 1550m
WAKING MOMENT (12) only has the one win rom 23 starts but she will appreciate coming back to this grade. She had some good sectionals last time and made good ground from the back, again she will be giving them a start but draws to get a soft run. She may need luck when the runs come in an open race.
ALMERHERI (11) has been very consistent this timer in and will be closing late from the back, JOHNNY VINKO (6) is resuming and has won fresh previously and BEAUFORT PARK (5) has hit the line well at both races this time in. Tough race.
