Canterbury Racing Tips -Fri Nov 29
We will be at Canterbury this Friday.
Track: Good 4. Rail: Out 3m entire circuit.
Best Bet: Race 2 – SAVASPUR
Race 1: 4YO and Up Maiden Plate Set Weights 1250m
FLYING MOJO (3) is a 7-start maiden that was really good resuming at Kembla, he got a mile back and hit the line hard, beaten just over a length into fourth producing the best overall sectionals of the race. Getting out to the 1250m looks ideal.
GUNZAR (4) has placed at his last three, he has nice turn-of-foot but just needs to be saved for one run coming back in trip here. TAWARET (9) gets the blinkers back on after showing improvement last start at Kembla, he maps well and JMac goes on. JAYTEES (5) has good tactical sped and will try to lead from the wide draw with the blinkers off, it looks a positive jockey change with Josh Parr going on.
Race 2: 3YO Maiden Plate Set Weights 1550m
SAVASPUR (6) gets the blinkers on for the first time at start two, he ran on hard form a mile back on debut at Kembla beaten just under a length into third. The second horse that day Tawaret goes around in the first race, see how that form lines up.
EARTH SONG (8) is a stable mate to the top pick for Waller, she has placed at both runs this time in and will also be giving them a start. She was solid in the market last time, expect her to be well backed again.
PERALTA (5) comes through the same race as the top pick, he looks the leader in the race, not sure that getting out in trip suits though. He will need some soft sectionals in front. DUCLAIR (2) was well beaten when resuming but will take plenty from the run, he had to work very hard wide without cover.
Race 3: BM70 Handicap 1900m
A small field where any of the eight wouldn’t surprise returning to the winners stall. DE VALERA (4) got well back and very wide here last time before savaging the line late. The small field looks to suit.
All of them. FABRICATING (5) has only been fair this time in but showed improvement in the same race as the top pick last time. MY BLUE JEANS (8) was trapped wide for a long way without cover in an easier race at Gundagai last time and stuck on well. He gets in with no weight and can pop up at big odds. ADANA (1) will be giving them a start and probably needs it wet, but will find this easier. No confidence in the race.
Race 4: 3YO Maiden Handicap 1100m
Four resuming, four on debut and the other four, well, haven’t shown much.. Except for BEST STONE (9). She resumes at Hawkesbury, showed good speed and led all the way before being nabbed on the line. She gets the blinkers on, draws well and gets Nash on, he is brilliant on leaders.
Watch the betting for those resuming or on debut, in particular
HYANNIS POINT (10), ROUSAL (8) and LUVOIR (6). If there is no serious money for these, Best Stone may be one of the better bets of the night?
Race 5: BM70 Handicap 1200m
FEEL THE KNIGHT (8) has won three of his five career starts, he has contested two Highway races since resuming, winning the most recent. He looks to have versatility and from the draw will settle mid-field. He was a nice trial winner at Canberra recently. He is a dual acceptor between this and tomorrow at Rosehill after scratching at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.
ASHARANI (1) is resuming, she may want further but has trialed ok. She was right out to the mile last prep, she will need the tempo right on form the outset. DISCHARGED (9) is also resuming, he wasn’t beaten far at Listed level before going to the paddock, has trialed well and like most of the Gai/Bott team, will look to race on the speed. SEDITION (5) won a 74 at Gosford two starts back and then was forced to do too much work here at the last night meeting in a harder race. Nash replaces Jay Ford and he maps to be on the speed.
Race 6: Fillies and Mares BM70 Handicap 1250m
MILITARY MAGIC (9) is undefeated after two starts, she had all the favours on debut to fall in but looked to improve going into start two. That was at Kembla where she was well supported deep into the red, got the cold sit on the leader early before exploding to the front to win easily. Harder again here and drawn out, if she gets cover, I expect her to be sweeping over the top.
MISS SPITEFUL (10) was well backed into favourite to win her maiden last time at career start two, she sat up outside the leader and was too good here. That may be her spot again, but she has showed she can do the work. INSTANT ATTRACTION (11) beat the girls to notch up win number one at Gosford last week, she was off the map with the bookies and won with a leg in the air. Harder here, she will also go forward and looks a great jockey change with Avdulla going on. WANDABAA (5) hasn’t missed a place in her five starts, she has had her chances at her last couple but failed to run down the leaders.
Race 7: 5YO and Up BM76 Handicap 1250m
THROUGH THE CRACKS (5) is very sparingly raced so has obviously had issues, he put together four wins in a row earlier in his short career. He resumed here a fortnight ago, didn’t really handle the bend well but hit the line hard in the best last 400m of the race. He will improve with that run under his belt and the experience at the track.
EL MO (1) sat up on the speed at Randwick, hit the front before being run down late in a harder race than this. He comes back in trip from the 1500m which looks to suit, maps beautifully and should have the run of the race behind the leading pair. JACK’S BAR (3) has a decent record fresh (4:1-2-0) and has trialed well enough, he handles all conditions but would like to see some late money for him after they parade. ONENESS (7) has been up for an eternity, he has been consistent and will be ridden positively. JMac off, Rachel King on.
Race 8: BM70 Handicap 1550m
ORCEIN (5) goes on top, mainly because I want to take on the favourite Bigboyroy. HE has shown improvement at each run this campaign and is getting close to a win. He was at Rosehill last start in a similar race to this, sat three-wide without cover before looming up, took over and was nailed in the last stride. Hughie jumps on from the good draw.
CONVINCED (6) has also accepted for Saturday at Rosehill, this looks an easier assignment. He drops back from a nice effort in the Spring Stakes at Newcastle a fortnight ago. BIGBOYROY (10) had been consistent before bolting in to win his maiden here a fortnight ago, he sat up outside the speed at the prohibitive odds of $1.25 and was way too good. What took him so long to click? He will be well backed, take him on late! FOREIGN TERRITORY (4) may be the horse to keep the favourite posted wide, he weakened badly last time after going too hard in front.
