Big 6 (Sat)

Big 6 – May 28

Last week’s Big 6 was a strip-out with the 2nd of Quintello the best we could do. We MUST lift!

Onto this week:

:one: Caulfield R1 #3 STARRY LEGEND
:two: Caulfield R8 #3 HOSIER
:three: Randwick R7 #3 ANDERMATT

:four: Randwick R10 #7 AMERICAN PRESIDENT
:five: Eagle Farm R9 #12 ENTRIVIERE
:six: Murray Bridge R7 #10 JUSTAKIDD

Was a good 3rd behind RANTING and subsequent winner OCEAN BEYOND last start at Caulfield over 1100. He went a bit hard there and was run over in the final 100m. He is the only leader here and should be able to dictate terms to suit and be very hard to get past.

Won impressively 1st up returning a similar figure to those of his in the past. Will race on the pace which should be an advantage with the rail well out.

(Champion Bets)

Walked in fresh then thrashed key rivals here at 1100m. Wide/ Keen and couldn’t finish off at 1300m in Luskin Star… That was his first defeat as a gelding. Back to 1100m now.

(Oz Racing Form)

Was a narrow 2nd to ATHELRIC at Scone over this distance last start and the start prior he bolted in at this track over 1200 on a heavy 10 surface. Gets in well with the claim, he’s hard fit and looks the one to beat.

Put in a huge run last start coming from last when 3rd behind MAZU in the G1 Doomben 10 000 at this track. She has Group 1 form in NZ behind LEVANTE and ROCH N HORSE (won the G1 Newmarket). Back on a firmer deck and with speed on she’ll be steaming home from the back again and I think her turn of foot will give her every chance to get over them.

Don’t let this blokes first-up tenth of eleven fool you as he was simply run off his legs early over the unsuitably short 1000m. His final sectionals were terrific including a meeting fastest 11.24 for final 200m. Finished close-up last campaign behind horses that have subsequently gone on to much better things. Convinced we have yet to see the best of this bloke, obviously strips fitter second-up, rise to 1200m is ideal whilst now also gains the services of Vorster. Given no scratchings rates a conservative $5 chance hence shapes as a great early value each-way play.
