Big 6 – January 15
Last week’s Big 5 was a frustrating one with 4 placings but no winners. Bouncing back today.
Onto this week:
Flemington R3 #7 SOMERSET MAUGHAM
Flemington R5 #4 NOT TO BE MIST
Flemington R7 #2 HALVORSEN
Rosehill R7 #2 THE BOPPER
Gold Coast R5 #14 ISOTOPE
Murray Bridge R8 #3 HEYINGTON STATION
FLEMINGTON
R3 #7 SOMERSET MAUGHAM
Got home well last start here, has won at this distance. Kah stays on.
R5 #4 NOT TO BE MIST
Big finale to run down It’sourtime then wide no cover in Manifold yet kept closing in very good effort, in race won in very fast time. Flying!
R7 #2 HALVORSEN
Won this race 2 years ago and his 2 runs this time in have been good winning down the straight first up over a 1000m and running a close 3rd when 2nd up over 1000m and carrying 60kgs. He drops to 56kgs here and gets the gun in Jamie Kah aboard. Just needs a bit of tempo and a good track to be winning here.

ROSEHILL
R7 #2 THE BOPPER
Won a BM78 over 1000m first run this prep after being slightly held up and he was strong through the line. He’s drawn to get a nice run stalking the leaders and drops 2kgs in weight. Has a win on a soft 6 in the Listed Brian Crowley Stakes over 1200m as a 3 year old and will get every chance to go back to back here.

GOLD COAST
R5 #14 ISOTOPE
She’s won 5 of 10. Started $2.10 on this day last years in the 3YO Guineas but lost the rider. Won the Darby Munro back in March and then 2nd in the Arrowfield to Wild Ruler which is excellent form for this.

MURRAY BRIDGE
R8 #3 HEYINGTON STATION
Another recently acquired addition to the Will Clarken Stable that has now been scratched on several occasions including once at the barriers (certainly not concerned as has subsequently trialled like a bomb). That was also off the back of a herculean first-up effort despite finishing a 2.6L fourth, after being put out of play at the start (first race start coming off a lengthy 42 week break). Also impressed winning two jump outs prior, hence obviously flying for the Clarken Stable. Heka Express (watch in race 1) has since franked last start formlines big time and whilst plummets back to BM68 company. After young Prices claim with solid tempo stepping up to preferred trip also obvious positives-expect this bloke to simply win given just even luck!! Reckon the opening $4.20 is gold!!
