Bendigo Racing Tips – Wed Sept 11
We will be at Bendigo this Wednesday.
Track: Soft 5. Rail: Out 9m entire circuit.
Best Bet: Race 5 – CHICAGO CUB
Race 1: 3YO Maiden Plate Set Weights 1000m
A 3YO Maiden with all but two of the runners lining up for the first time. This is one of those occasions where it is a positive to arrive late to the Pub or stay longer at your long lunch. Obviously watch the betting with those on debut, particularly
KIPTANUI (5), METEORITE (6) and TELEKINESIS (8). Of the two that have raced, ORDER OF FURY (7) ran on hard at Mornington debut in what has been a good form race. Too hard.
Race 2: Super VOBIS Maiden Plate Set Weights 2400m
BEDOUIN KING (1) has been very consistent but is still a maiden after 7 starts. Six of those have been this prep, the latest of those he had to work early to be up outside the speed and only faded late to just miss the placings. Out in trip, drawn wide, he will be ridden more conservatively no doubt but this looks his chance.
VIRTUOUS (12) started her career with two synthetic track runs but since she has switched to the turf and getting out in trip at her last four, she has been racing better. She ran on well last time at the Bool on a very heavy track but she was favoured to be back in the field that day. ELIABELLA (9) was also in that race at the Bool and had to do a stack of work, she was brave in defeat and maps to get a more economical run here. RUBY SUNRISE (11) has been racing n the synthetic of late, a little enigmatic but can improve. She will also get back.
Race 3: 3YO Maiden Plate Set Weights 1600m
KWAHADI (3) looks to have plenty of talent, two starts back on the heavy track here he worked early to get up on the speed, was very green and faded to finish third but not beaten far. HE was here again last time and had a torrid wide run without cover, stuck on well to only be beaten a couple of lengths and just miss the placings. Drawn better and out to the mile and the blinkers go on, he looks a great each-way bet.
SEBSILK (5) has been a little costly to punters, beaten when well in the market a both starts, he loomed up to win last time and had every chance. He gets a stack of gear changes and obviously has the talent with the good SP profile. SERIOUS LIAISON (6) was well beaten on debut but will find this easier, THE MOCKINGBIRD (13) wasn’t beaten far on debut but was huge odds.
Race 4: 3YO Fillies BM70 Handicap 1600m
A small field but it looks a competitive one on paper. FRAZIL (1) wasn’t beaten far in a similar race last time when up on the speed and will be making her own luck again. MIAMI BOUND (2) was great winning her maiden last time but this is harder. She was held-up at a vital stage but charged through the line when after finally getting clear. MOONLIGHT MAID (4) is resuming, she won on a heavy track on debut and then not beaten far at Listed level last time. Tough ask straight to the mile but drops significantly in class. PIERRO ROSE (6) was up on the speed resuming in Sydney last start, hard to line up that form line.
Race 5: BM64 Handicap 1100m
Wow where to look here. We go from the small numbers last race to a capacity field here, but I am very keen on one. CHICAGO CUB (8) is resuming, he has had two fresh runs previously, a nice run on debut and a maiden win last prep where he bolted in. He had a jump-out at Flemington last month up the straight and was under a hold as he paired off with another runner, before being asked late to win that trial, he looks ready to go and is drawn perfectly.
DOVES CRY (11) was poor resuming on the heavy track but is better than that and has trialed well since, MAZESTIC (12) is a last start winner on the heavy but will find this harder and CILAURO (6) has placed at both of his previous runs resuming which he is today.
Race 6: BM64 Handicap 2200m
YULONG SEPTEMBER (6) went to SA last start in a BM70 and wasn’t beaten far although he did appear to have every chance. He has been consistent this prep barring one forgive run at Sandown where he was checked mid-race and never recovered. Blinkers on for the first time and well drawn, he looks a great each-way bet in an open race.
SHEPARD (5) was heavily backed to win his maiden last start, was held-up at the turn before running on hard out wide for a comfortable win in the end. This is harder but he looks to have plenty of upside.
SOUTHERN YANKEE (3) has been poor at his last couple but can improve getting off the heavy tracks. MOSS ‘N’ BOLT (2) next best, he had to chase too hard last time when beaten as favourite.
Race 7: BM70 Handicap 1600m
TAVIDANCE (9) is an Ex-Weir runner that is resuming, he was a good maiden winner on debut and then place at Listed level before going to the paddock. Now with the Mick Price yard, he has trialed well and a lot will depend on if the money comes or not.
HELMAZ (7) has been good at his last three at Sandown when up on the speed, he has been on the heavy track at his last couple, going back three runs he won on the soft after sitting without cover and a gap to third. SUPREME MONEY (6) has been good through the early part of this prep, he went to SA last time but never got in to the race from the back. He will be giving them a start but fly8ing late if the speed is hot.
STEALTHY LUCAS (1) is usually poor fresh but had no luck last time and should have finished a lot closer. He gets the good claim off the big weight and will be charging late.
Race 8: Fillies and Mares BM78 Handicap 1500m
TIDES (10) resumed at Sandown, she raced up on the speed but tired late, she looks suited getting out on trip and handles all conditions. She led all the way over a mile before going to the paddock, if she gets a soft lead maybe bet again in the run?
RAT WITH GOLDTOOTH (4) has been very consistent. She was in a much harder race last time and was lucky not to hit the turf after clipping heels when the runs were coming. Forgive that run. OCEANEX (3) ran on hard from the back when resuming on a day when it was more advantageous to be up on the speed. She placed at her only other second-up run and looks to have plenty of upside. She just needs the right tempo up front. HAY NOW (1) was well beaten in a much harder race last time, she over-raced when up on the speed and wasn’t suited the way the race was run. She is better than that.
Race 9: BM70 Handicap 1300m
CUBAN TOONITE (1) has won two in a row, firstly on the synthetic and then here at the track at 64 grade last time. He sat up outside the speed and was strong through the line, that looks his spot again from the wide gate.
MEAN MISTER (2) has speed and is also drawn wide, the tactics between these two may be the difference between win or loss. If the rain is around, he will benefit, he handles the sting out of the ground well.
MUTUAL RESPECT (7) has not finished further back than second at five starts this time in, he has versatility and from the draw and the stack of speed drawn just inside him, he probably goes back early. THE CARD PLAYERS (8) has the blinkers off for the first time, two of his five wins have come when second-up as he is today, he will probably be ridden for luck back in the field off the inside draw.
