Ballarat Racing Tips – Wed Oct 2

We will be at Ballarat this Wednesday.

Track: Soft 5. Rail: Out 4m 600m-1600m. True the remainder.

Best Bet: Race 2 – SANDATION

===

Race 1: 3YO Maiden Plate Set Weights 1600m

SMOKE BOMB (4) has been to the races once for the Mick Price yard, that was on a Soft 7 track and he sat up on the speed and tired badly. He should get a better surface here today and will roll forward again, this is not a deep race. He can improve.

Dangers:

TRANSLATOR (6) hasn’t shown a lot at four starts to date, this is easier than last time and gets the blinkers on for the first time. ATAME (7) has the inside draw, she was only fair resuming at the seven furlongs and looks suited getting out to the mile. HE’S WOW CLASS (2) was ok resuming but was huge odds, need to see some consistency first.

Race 2: 3YO Fillies Maiden Plate Set Weights 1200m

SANDATION (15) looks one of the best of the day here, she debuted at Ballarat earlier in the year and was narrowly beaten by a very smart one. She resumed at Geelong, was warming up late when hampered and hit the line well again thereafter. Look for her late.

Dangers:

JUDGEMENT (8) was ok up on the pace when resuming, expect her to go forward from the wide gate. She has a lot of speed and should be able to cross. BROADWAYANDFOURTH (3) was held-up early in the straight on debut before attacking the line. She is drawn out and will get back, just needs the right horse to follow when the runs come. BELLARINE BEAUTY (2) gets the blinkers on after an ok debut where she hit the line well, there has already been a winner through that maiden since.

Race 3: 3YO BM64 Handicap 1100m

FREE THRILLS (7) resumed at Tatura after not showing too much in harder races at her first prep, she was a well supported favourite, sat up on the speed and was way too good for a much softer field than this. Drawn well down on the inside, she should be able to kick through and lead or at least get the sit on the leader.

Dangers:

INVINCIBLE LOTUS (8) is resuming, she was last seen in the rich Bendigo God Rush and was well in the market, watch the betting with her. VIKING WARRIOR (4) won well on debut then placed up the straight, sent to the paddock he is resuming here with the blinkers on and has trialed ok. RUUCA (3) won on debut on a heavy track on debut and then was close up last time at Eagle Farm, hard to line-up that Qld form.

Race 4: BM64 Handicap 2000m

SHAKESPEARE (7) is a Kiwi looking for bigger kills than this, he was seen in the Derby trial at Flemington where he was running on late before hitting some traffic. He was huge odds that day after coming across the Tasman following a maiden win, he looks to have potential at the staying game and the extra distance suits.

Dangers:

SUPER GIRL (6) is yet to win out of maiden grade, she resumed at Ballarat over a mile, always a tough ask, she made some ground late and certainly will be suited over the extra 2 furlongs here. EUROSYMBOL (5) got the first win of his career last time in an easier maiden at Coleraine, he may have turned the corner after winning that as an odds-on favourite. SAVVY BOY (2) has been racing well on the heavy tracks, any rain around would suit.

Race 5: Class 1 Handicap 1400m

It looks a race in three on paper and I am sure the betting will reflect that. STAY GOLD (10) was well backed in maiden grade at Cranbourne last start, she didn’t begin well but picked up quickly, sped through to lead all the way. It was great to see her not lose it at the start, she gets the winkers on for the first time and drawn out, she will go forward again.

Dangers:

FASCINO (9) won her maiden on the synthetic two back and then was good at Listed company last time after being held-up for a lot of the straight, she should have almost won no doubt. AREE AL (1) won on debut and then went to a 64 after a 4-week break, ran on hard from a mile back but will again be giving them a start here. IMPERIAL DAWN (7) next best, but place only.

Race 6: Fillies and Mares BM64 Handicap 1200m

YOU HADME AT HELLO (11) is an interesting runner form the McEvoy stable, she won her maiden last prep across the border by more than 7 lengths and then was only plain in the Sires in SA at start three. She was pushed out winning a recent trial which leads me to believe they are ready to go fresh.

Dangers:

SPLENDORONTHEGRASS (10) resumed up the straight at Listed level a few weeks ago in a much harder race than this, she was only fair but will appreciate the drop in class here. ZABELARINA (5) was well backed and a dominant winner at 58 grade last time, RAPIDORA (4) is resuing, she has been consistent through her first two preps and faced much tougher opposition than this. If she is ready, she is a chance.

Race 7: BM70 Handicap 1100m

SAM’S IMAGE (1) doesn’t win out of turn but has been consistent at all three runs. He has placed at his last three, all at BM78 level and will appreciate the drop back to this grade. He is back in trip from the 6 furlongs to the 1100m, has good tactical speed and if he crosses to the fence first, load up again.

Dangers:

MARCEL FROM MADRID (3) is resuming, he is already a Black Type winner in his career and has brilliant closing speed. He will get back from the draw out wide, but if the speed is on, he will be flashing late. RAKTOFF (4) has been up a while but is racing so well, she has won four of her last five, is speedy and will go forward but will find this harder back against the girls. A GOOD YARN (2) was racing brilliantly on the synthetic this time last year, he has been off the scene a while but his best can certainly challenge these.

Race 8: BM64 Handicap 1600m

ZACHAZ (3) is an interesting runner now with the Maher/Eustace stable, he won his first two in NZ then placed at his only other two runs before going to the paddock. He has been off the scene for almost 6 months and has been gelded in his time off. Watch for any money for him, interesting that he is straight to the mile fresh here.

Dangers:

PRESSURE (6) is a last start synthetic winner at the same grade as this, she showed good speed when making a mid-race move to take the lead and although she tired late, she always looked like winning. ROCK THE DRUM (9) gets the blinkers for the first time, he is getting a little deep into his first prep but is very consistent, this could be his last run before going to the paddock. SUPREME HARMONY (2) gets a few gear changes to try and get him back in the form he was in earlier in the prep, he has been up a while but the runs have been very spaced. He will be giving them a start, look for him late.
